Anyone know what oil I use in my 02 6 cylinder manual trans and transfer case? Do I have to call Toyota to find out?

Your Owner's Manual is a great reference for this kind of information. (They're available for download from the Toyota Owner's Site.) According to page 285, you should use SAE 75W-90 API GL–4 or GL–5 oil.

You'll find lots of advice on this topic in the 1st Gen. Tacomas and Technical Chat forums. (The "Search this Forum" tool can help you located pertinent posts.)

the Redline mt-90 synthetic is great. I tried a few different synthetics, all of which were pretty sticky when trying to shift. The Redline is smooth as butter! I recommend it for transfer case too.

At U're parts house , ( Pep Boys , Auto Zone , etc. ) U can get the oil's number out of their book that has the filter #s, plugs, etc. The oil in the trans is the same as what is in the differencial.
Go R/P full synthic. I honestly could tell the difference when I pull out !

+1 Especially once it's warmed up it makes shifts buttery smooth. Every car with a manual trans I ever own will have the appropriate weight of redline MT fluid.

I picked up some Lucas synthetic 80-90 a couple of days ago but have not put it in yet.

Anyone have a good/bad experience with this type? Or should I return it an order some readline?
