Two less cupholders with m/t. That's TWO less drinks you can carry in manual vs auto.

    diabetes denied.

But in all seriousness, if the interior of the auto is anything like the manual I'm going to go ahead and say Toyota went over board with the cup holders. It's almost like the designers went with American stereotypes.

Mine has 2 cup holders in each door. 2 next to the ebrake and 2 behind the center arm rest.although granted I have the access cab without the rear seats.

I test drove an off road dcsb and counted 12 cup holders. I always made arithmetic errors in all my calculus classes so i could be wrong lol.

Yuck! I'm a thirsty dude, but I won't drive that soda crap. Just kidding about the cupholders. I think Toyota went overboard lol.

If the 5 speed with the 4 cyl is same trans as in 2nd gens then URD has a short throw shifter kit for it. Makes nice difference in shifting. Dunno if they are same 5 speed trans tho...............

Congrats on the new truck, that's a beautiful color. Props for picking up the manual, I'm interested in hearing some updates on the manual as time goes on.

So far I love it. A few things they updated over my 2013. The rear has a 3 leaf pack instead of a 2 leaf. The 16 has heated and power mirrors! Dash is super nice with all the blue leds! It doesn't have a problem getting up and going with a bigger set of tires on it, I'm running 265 75 16s on it. It comes standard with a back up camera. And also they upgrade the audio and put 2 speakers in the back doors!

I hit 800 miles today, and I can honestly say that the throttle is getting better. I'm not sure if it's me getting used to the truck, or the truck getting used to me w/ the ECU learning my driving habits, but it's definitely better. I downshifted into 3rd while exiting the interstate without upsetting the truck at ALL, it matched revs perfectly when I blipped the gas. Downshifted again into 2nd and it bucked a little because I wasn't quite perfect with the gas pedal (or the truck was slow to respond, either-or :p) , but then it got up and ran when I put my foot into it to merge.

In unrelated news, my senile / Alzheimers-suffering grandpa loved it. He said "all four wheels will spin!" about a dozen times, with the same sense of awe in his voice every time. I blame the 4x4 mud flaps. He also kept asking "Is this a new Ford? or a Chevy?"... I just answered "It was made in Texas!" each time he asked. He's too far gone to explain that Ford doesn't make Rangers anymore, and that if they did they'd be made in Mexico :p. Plus, y'know, Korean war vet hatred for all things "Japanese". I didn't want to set him off or get into that, so hey, it was made in Texas!.

Congratulations on figuring that out. That is exactly what it gets used as, a truck. Now, grace us with the reason you think less notchy shifting without moving the stick as far has no place in a truck. Take your time and make up something entertaining................

I just got 2016 trd off-road 4x4 with a manual transmission two Thursdays ago. Came in with only 10 miles on the dash. The transmission is so much fun and easy. Definitely likes to be shifted like a truck though. I was all trying to drive it like my previous 5 speed Mazda b3000 pickup. She doesn't like that at all lol. I still love it though. Does anybody else get a thud when shifting from 1st to 2nd while the clutch pedal is still depressed to the floor? And does anybody know the break in point on these things, if they even have one?

The this is the nature of the game with these transmissions. Usually once the fluid warms up it goes away

That's what I've been reading. I just wonder if I've past the break in point. I put 830 miles on it already
