    Break in period is usually around 3,000 miles according to Toyota I believe.

    Actually I just did a bit more reading on the topic and it seems like it's about half that, 1,500 miles for break in. According to Toyota, no towing anything for the first 500 miles and try not to rev the engine too high for the first 1,000.

    I think the 3,000 mile number I mentioned earlier was referring to how long it takes the auto tranny to learn and adjust to your driving habits, which could also be considered break in.
