Howdy, tried googling this all sorts of ways but couldn't find anything that was similar to my question. Some backstory: for the last 6-7 years, I've had a 2006 Auto Tacoma. No shifting issues or noise. I recently sold that truck and purchased a 2015 Manual Tacoma. No shifting issues other than I'm a little new to manual. Had motorcycles and some basic experience, but never owned a manual vehicle till 2~ months ago.

So here's the question, I'm getting a bit of a clunk when I start and stop in 1st. It could be happening in other gears but I normally hear it when I'm in a drive through line since my window is down. It sounds just like the noise the shifter makes if I go to neutral and wiggle back and forth. But it's only one clunk. I'm not sure if maybe this is just the shifter/trans making noise from getting loaded up then deloaded as I stop? Not sure. It also could be normal and I'm just worried about nothing. Could also maybe be my driving habits since I'm new to MT?

    TIA

Edit: 2015 has 130k and clutch seems to be fine. I don't notice any slippage or anything like that. Truck was hardly offroaded, she's a pavement princess.

Sounds like its drive shaft u-joints. This is usually the first indications of these starting to go.

Possibly loading/unloading of the spline shaft on the rear DS where the rubber bellows boot lives. A number of truck makes have experienced this and a problem with Fords required mixing PTFE and moly greases to lube the splined part. I borrowed that fix and applied it to my '14 6-speed. I would also inspect all the ujoints as suggest above, and the carrier bearing/including its mount.
