    Hi folks,

I was down changing the manual transmission oil, everything went good, Redline 75w90 and now it shifts better.

However I noticed a number of cracks in the casing of the transmission.. is that normal?

I don’t know if those are cracks or left over from the casting. Real hard to tell just from a photo

Looks like a rough casting. You are fine. They don't bother to clean/polish all that off because there is no good reason to do so.

Not cracks, very odd spots for cracks to occur if indeed are cracks

Thanks folks for easing my mind.. Changed my Jeep's transmission oil many miles ago and don't seem to recall those ugly casting lines/peels. As others had said, seems to shift smoother but could be the placebo effect :)

Only minor issue I ran into was the pump (same one as rec'ed by the sticky thread) would not fit into the Redline 75w90 bottles so I had to use scissor to cut a small line down the mouth of bottles to fit in the pump. :)
