Let see self driving cars drive in a snowstorm through 1ft of snow with no visible road in a whiteout :D

I love my 2.7 and 5spd MT! Went from an auto before, yes sometimes stop and go traffic is a pain. I always curse when they drop below 20km/h and I then have to go to first lol, then they speed right back up with 100ft of space in front! hahahaha

I've beaten this topic to death... I had a '13 MT, switched to a '13 AT because it shifted terrible and felt terrible. Overall not a fun and engaging experience because of the rev hang. Combine the rev hang with a heavy (ish) flywheel and it just doesn't feel responsive at all.

DSG (dual clutch transmissions) are not "automatics" as we know them even if they shit automatically. They don't have a torque converter or planetary gears. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-shift_gearbox

Honda's new Africa Twin adv bike has the option for an auto. They've made "Hondamatics" for a while...not sure if any other brands really use them.

But with all the safety features, vehicles are already becoming prohibitively expensive to some. Add in up charges in insurance, and for the final nail, make driverless car service way cheaper with incentives, and it will be a done deal, IMO.

One thing autonomous vehicles have is lots of cameras, and anyone driving like an a-hole around them will be getting some type of fine- just projecting a possible scenario.

Hoping we get to keep our vehicles for as long as we want, but things do change whether we want it or not.

If Toyota discontinues the MT in Tacoma then I'm switching to Frontier. They can eat their stupid automatic trash.

Have you been inside a nissan? Their interiors are trash. Also for whatever reason nissans pricing for the frontier is much higher than the tacoma and they've already stopped offering manuals.

Frontiers are less than a Tacoma and Manuals are still available.

Love my gearbox. If I wanna know what my gear oil level is, I remove a plug and finger bang my tranny. Ugh. I don't wanna live in a world where I'm stuck dealing with whatever that one guy a few threads down is dealing with. Letting it cool for a temp, scan tool, "was it over filled??? Omg who knows? "Take it to a dealership???. That in itself is enough to keep me away from automatics as long as possible

Nope, couldn't agree more. We have a little screen society that now lacks the attention span to learn how to drive, let alone standard. If Google has it's way we'll all be sucking our thumbs and playing Candy Crush in Johnny Cabs........

Looks like the tacoma prices have gone up a little, but regardless the frontier only comes in a manual if it's 2x4 i4. The tacoma i4 5 spd comes with 4x4 for only 300 bucks more and you get a few nicer options too standard. But I am not sure how the higher trims compare. I've always been a bare bone vehicle sort of guy. When they release the diesel frontier my opinion of them might change. I am biased though just because I feel their interiors are embarrassing.

Nissan has 4 and 6 Cylinder 4x4 Manuals, you are thinking of the GM twins that only have a 2 wheel drive manual.
