I am coming back to the MT truck club.

My 2013 was my first and only automatic vehicle I've owned. Sadly it was recently totaled after someone crossed the double yellow and hit me head on. After having a transmission replacement done on it under warranty due to the wonky shift programming only to have it return on the new one u was less than enthused with the auto.

When I started shopping 3G trucks as a replacement and read all about the transmission complaints independent of the fluid level I knew I was all set.

Ended up in a DCSB short-bed in silver with the premium and tech package. Build date was yesterday and I should see it mid-July.

After driving a 2011 DCSB Auto trans, I liked it just fine, the trans liked to go in to potato mode occasionally when you gunned it and it was right at a gear shift already, but all in all it wasn't bad. When I traded that in I already had a supercharger sitting on the shelf and knew I wanted a manual for more power control. It was a bitch locating a 2015 DCSB TRD Sport 6 speed, but I finally located one and am pretty happy! Stop and go traffic sucks, but for the most part I love it!

If anyone is looking and willing to travel out of state, I saw an MGM OR M/T with tech @Teton Toyota in Idaho Falls, Idaho. That was Friday.

Say WHAT?!?!?! I had a Sequoia built (Nashville) and delivered in two days (Flint, MI). How in the hell does it take over a month to get your truck?

So I remember reading a bit back in this thread of people fighting the shifter to get it out of gear with the clutch pedal in.

My friend has a 6spd MGM OR with sub 1000 miles on it. He texted me today saying that he had to exert his full body weight to get his shifter out of 6th and 5th. This is all on a 80-100 mile road trip.

Has anyone found a remedy for this yet?

Take it to dealership and have the tranny replaced.

Yikes, I'll inform him. I told him to call Toyota NA and complain.

Use the search and see if you can find the actual thread on the trans sticking in gear. I believe a member or two has had the tranny replaced at this point.

My truck came earlier than expected, had to go somewhere that weekend, woke up Monday and got the truck. As for the transmission, it has yet to stick on me(pun intended). I have been on long trips 2+hr in 6th and have over 3100 miles and still shifts like the day I got it, like a dream.

Still a great truck and would not have it in an auto.

Theory: If I were to turn trac off or auto lsd on would it change engine mapping for example just turning Atkinson cycle off for performance and power control?

What? That has to do with % power delivery to the wheels. How would that change the Atkinson cycle?

By keeping the engine engine out of atk and keeping it in Otto. Example Eco mode to sport mode.

Just a thought I'm not saying it does it.

If I'm not mistaken, Sport mode changes the shift points. I don't believe it prevents the engine from being in Atkinson cycle.

It switches cycles based on total required power/torque. There is a plot somewhere that shows when it is in each cycle for the 2016 tacoma (unfortunately it doesnt have numbers!) but I can't remember exactly where it is. I think it is in the new features PDF that outlines the new parts of the engine.

I am just pondering.. While I was driving I stepped on the gas and there was a noticeable delay (throttle by wire and/or the 4 switches: atk to otto and port to direct inj). I will say this engine has a lot going on. I'll have to find the PDF.

shit, that is what I have on order. It's been a little over a month. They said they may have been able to trade up in line, but I am waiting to hear how that went. I think Idaho is too far for them to trade with. I am in Ohio. If they call me today with bad news, I may mention this. Thanks!

Did you try double clutching to shift from 2nd to 1st? My 4cyl with the 5 speed requires double clutching to shift from 2nd to 1st if it's moving.
