Have there been any issues with the Throw out bearing on the 3rd Gens? I'm on TOB #2, and it's chirping again.

Greased u joints. Haven't checked u bolts, dealer had no clue at my 5k service. Taking it in this weekend with a traitor and having every tech in there drive it till someone figures it out. Going to mount my go pro under there to to see if I see and abnormal shaking. I also noticed some decent clutch chattering sitting at a stop the other day. Sounded like a south bend:frusty:

Has anyone else experienced surging/lunging at low rpm's in first and second gear? A kind of studder.

That could be the AC compressor kicking on. I feel it all the time and its especially notieable in those low gears where that dip in rpms kind of bucks the truck.

Yes! For me it happens while pushing the throttle to the floor in 2nd gear.. the truck tends to bog down for a moment or stutters and then once 3500 rpms come BOOM it's like the Millennium Falcon going into hyperspace (sort of ). I guess it's normal.

So I was driving my truck on the interstate the other day and I slow down and the speedometer gets all jerky and hangs up at like 70mph then drops right down to 60mph my actual speed confirmed by the digital speedometer in the center display in a non fluid motion. It did this on and off for about 5min while accelerating and decelerating then stopped and didn't come back. Anyone else have this happen or know what it could be from? I wasn't down shifting at all just letting off the gas or getting back on it.

mine as well... and same with the jerky movements at low rpm. I find my truck also bucks at low rpm if i press the throttle down and let off as well, even if i don't press it down hardly at all, not more than a few degrees tops. AC compressor makes sense. For the longest time I was thinking its something driveline related, maybe too much free play between the two driveshaft pieces or backlash on the rear diff set improperly. Could be wrong though, ill see when I swap in an Eaton DTT and do all the proper measurements to be sure

How's acceleration and overall fell on the 16' V6 M/T? I hear a lot of negative opinions on the auto trans. Wondering if the M/T lacks any of these types of complaints. I'm currently in a 2012 RAM 1500, but I love an M/T and I'm thinking about trading.

I experience this as well. Along with no power or acceleration whatosever below 2100 rpms or so.

I guess that's the benefit of having the manual. You can keep in any gear you want to maximize the power.

It's so so. It's a truck. It takes some time before it the acceleration starts to set in. Until about 3000 rpms it feels substandard as far as power and acceleration to me. Then again I came from a Civic Si and those things were quick.

No you're not feeling a difference because you're coming from a Civic. I've owned 3 Taco's: 06 Sport DCSB A/T, 10 OR DCSB A/T, and now a 17 OR DCSB M/T. Both my previous Tacos had some "pep" in the throttle right from a standstill. The manual is very much substandard in throttle response/acceleration below that RPM.

I don't think blaming the transmission is wise here, gents. Remember that the biggest difference between the 3.5 and the 4 liter is going to be the rotating mass of the pistons. More rotating mass= more torque or 'power from standstill'. So basically if you want to get all the power the 2GR claims, you have to keep it in the rev range where it makes those claims, i.e. 3500 and beyond. Otherwise, expect better fuel economy with no get up and go from a standstill.

I honestly shift at 3500rpm and above, at this rpm It's comparable to my '15 4.0. The 4.0 I feel was a more peppy engine. This engine isn't bad and the trade off is mpg I average over 20mpg even shifting as high as I do where as the '15 averaged 17mpg. In a perfect world I'd like to have both trucks. I really liked my '15 and I really like my '16. Each was better at certain things I wouldn't really say one is better than the other. Just my opinion.
