I believe you are wrong. a person can not order a truck. They can get a truck allocated to them if that truck was already going to be built.

Well I know you know ordered/allocated, since you initially helped me get my first truck.

My point was (maybe I didn't make it clearly), if the FREE market supported more than 5% manual sales, Toyota would do it. It just doesn't, in reality.

You may be correct on the last point. bottom line is they do not make many MTS.

No disagreement there. My only point was, they don't make them, cuz no one buys them anymore. :)

My brother in law has a 550maranello with gated 6 speed. he bought it 4 years old for only 110K. Today that thing is worth almost 190K.

Only reason is, Ferrari is not making any manual transmission. However the demand just isn't there.

Sure there are some of us still holding on for the 3rd pedal, but in reality, the market is almost gone.

IF the market WAS there, auto makers would make it, because they are in the business of making money. They wouldn't leave profits on the table.

There is a reason M5 comes in Manual in the USA only, whereas the rest of the world was SMG. The USA market demanded it and got it (v10+6MT)

I ordered a truck and im pretty sure it got built not allocated to me. I took over 6 months to come in. The reason I believe this is because they told me they checked the system and if one was scheduled to be built and shipped to hawaii I could get it sooner. Im pretty sure within that 6 months a mgm mt off-road was built and shipped to another dealer by happenstance

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Except Toyota decides how many they are going to build long before the orders. They allocate one you "build and order" that they already planned to build, and if they didn't then you are shit out of luck.

I don't know if they could sell 15, but i would bet they could sell 10 percent. I know finding my 6spd manual 2015 TRD Pro in inferno was damn hard, and there was a line for it. I just had the money first.

They don't do custom orders like some other manufacturers do.

I doubt it. They have so many problems with their transmissions in the manual trucks for so long, its more of a gamble. Amid all the other reasons listed, Toyota is not a gambling company. They will not build it if the are not positive its going to sell, they don't want to be ford or dodge.

Seems like many manufacturers offer manuals in vehicles we cannot get here. It would be nice to at least have it as an option on special orders.

You could be right, but so could I. I know of a handful of people who went to other brands because of the difficulty in getting what they wanted. Also a number of people here recently buying the colorado in duramax even though they like the Tacoma better, because of the automatic and bitch size v6 in both the GM trucks and Tacoma and the hunting for power they do.

I know when i bought my 2013 new, I had to have it shipped from out of state. It was not very high demand but it was hard to get.

When I bought my 2015 it was a nightmare of trying to get one, there was way more demand than produced.

Having dealt with tons of old yota's the Manual always sells better than the auto used. Except the Tacoma's where they started having problems and got the bad reputation.

I think they would have no problem selling a good 10 percent, if they fixed the problems they have in the Tacoma.

    -reliability issues #1
-notchy shifting, rev hang, weak syncronizers
-poor gearing choice, leading to poor MPG

I really believe they are intentionally trying to kill the manual transmission without taking credit. They don't want to do the Logistics of keeping it, same reason for the 3.5... killing the supercharger was so they could sell the 3.5 liter bitchmill. All about the bottom dollar.

Just like they don't want to sell a diesel.

This may be a little off topic for what is currently being discussed but... One of the reasons I enjoy my 5-speed manual is that my buddies (or a thief for that case) can't just jump in my truck and drive away as easily cause a lot of people (surprisingly) don't know how to drive a manual.

Also, they have a nice benefit if you ever add bigger tires or more weight because you can do a little better without a regear as compared to an auto. (and its easier on the brakes)

And my favorite reason... It's more fun to me than just moving the shifter into drive and pressing the pedal.

Annndddd... I personally find it easier to get tired or distracted behind the wheel if I'm driving an auto.

Annndddd!!!! Last one... I've had many discussions about this.... And it seems pretty logical.... People who drive manuals usually have more initiative to learn how to drive one and are usually decent drivers. However, a terrible driver who has no cares in the world would most likely not want to learn a manual, so they go for an automatic.

I don't think autos are better. I'm confused by your post.

I'm confused most of the time. ha. No, i'm saying for off-roading, manual transmission is hands down better. Shouldn't even be debated.

The 3 month waiting time to get a TRD MT seems to indicate that they could sell more than 5% MT trucks...

I still disagree. I have multiple friends who wanted a manual taco over the last few years. The problem is they would go to the dealer and the dealer would Bull shit them into thinking finding a manual would never happen. So they caved and bought autos. Had there been manuals available they would have bought them. I can't be the only guy in the US that has friends who want manuals but are not dedicated enough to wait it out.
