Ok great. After reading your last post I listened and paid more attention on my drive to work. Def the small clunk while shifting in sec. and third so this seems like a normal thing. I plan on changing oil all out to red line at 500 miles.

That is also on my To Do list on my truck, I have no strange noises or clunky shifts, just difficult to engage Reverse.

Good call. Changing to Red Line was the best thing I did for the drive train. A retired racer gave me eleven quarts when I got the truck. Shifts smooth as silk in all gears.

I wish. Mine goes into reverse too easily.

Sometimes if it really wants to fight me it may take 5 or 6 tries before it will go in, I usually don't mind too much unless I start holding up traffic.

I will. However my daily commute is only 8 miles so might take some time. Or I could just do it now. Just need to find the time with my 3 yr old and 6 month old time is and to find:)

When I purchased by 15 with 13,000 miles, the shifts where difficult especially into second, and almost had to be completely stopped to downshift into first. Red Line Mt-90 made a very noticeable improvement. Well worth it in my opinion.

Ok. New Q here. Continue to go through my truck and making sure all is operational. I know there have been some threads on clutch start cancel. However can't seem to figure something out. I know what it's for. I have it on my old 89 Toyota pickup with the 22re. On that truck I throw it in gear hit the button and start the truck. The 89' pulls right away and I'm off.
On my new truck I put it in gear fire it up and it just chugs along never wanting to fully get moving so I just turn the key off. I didn't want to keep cranking. Am I missing something? I know it's not meant to be used all the time but I'm heading out this week on some steep switchback trails in places I don't want to roll back. I was looking forward to this in a just in case situation. Thanks!

I've personally only ever used it to start the truck without fully getting in. If there's somewhere I don't want to roll back, I'll engage the E brake until I start rolling forward.

Try coming to a complete stop, hold the brake for a second or two, then let off the brake. It should hold you there for a few seconds if you're on a hill. You have to completely stop though or it won't engage. The manuals come with hill start too. It releases once you hit the gas and start moving, or if you let it sit for a few seconds it'll release itself. The E brake works as well like EatSleepTacos mentioned.

^What he said, I've used the E-brake technique on some hills I didn't want to roll back on. Just leave the truck on, pull the E-brake, slowly let out the clutch and push gas until you feel the truck starting to tug on the brake, I even have my hand on the E brake and kinda let it go slowly as I let out more clutch. If you do it right you're not really straining clutch or brake and you won't roll back.

I believe @JARStacoma has an OR though. No hill start assist.

Definitely much smoother. Been running MT-90 in my 1992 for years. Got the 2015 a few months ago with 13,000 miles and was disappointed with the shifting and how difficult it was to downshift. Changed to MT-90 and it made a noticeable difference. Takes less than 2 quarts, so for under $40 and about 30 minutes of time, it was well worth it to me.

Sounds good. Guess they made the 3rd gen a little bigger. Seems to take about 2.6 now so three quarts it is I guess. Ordered that and a new set of washers. Gotta love the 2 day shipping from Amazon.

Mine shifts fine, it's just a little clunky sometimes. It's not grinding just a little notchy feeling. Hard to explain. I've read people swapping it out and getting some decent results from it. Guess it wouldn't hurt either way since I got it used.
