Anybody ever stall because of the slow throttle response from a dead stop.

With this truck I'm a good bit slower on the clutch in 1st than i probably need to be, can't say I've stalled it due to that yet.

Couple times, but used to it now. Throws me off when I drive the old one for a few days then jump back, in the 15.

Does stalling cause any damage to the drivetrain components?

Stalled once yesterday because of it. Curious about this Q as well. Def. becoming more used to it. I just have to get on the gas pedal more than I'm used to. But now because of that my shifts are becoming smoother.

It is a standard condition. I don't know that anyone has identified the source of the clanking.

Interesting comparison for the 3rd gen owners:

I bought a brand new 2016 and I always had a suspicion that something was wrong with the clutch/pressure plate. The transmission was clunky and noisy when shifting into 2nd and 3rd, sometimes accompanied by a loud "clank" or on rare occasion gears grinding (yes the clutch was pushed in all the way). In order to shift it smoothly I had to release the clutch extremely slowly. The symptoms were uncanny of a pressure plate or hydraulic clutch issue, almost like the pressure plate wasn't engaging the clutch disc correctly. Fast forward a year of granny shifting and the truck was totaled in an accident.

I test drove a 2017 of the exact same spec and this one shifted like butter. No loud clank, clutch was less sensitive, no gear grinding. 2nd and 3rd engagement was smooth with no noises or issues without granny shifting. I got a screaming deal and couldn't say no.

Back again with another question. I am noticing something that I am not sure is related to the drive by wire response. Sometimes I feel it, however def not consistent. When I am in 3rd and sometimes 4th gear and accelerating, not the initial acceleration from shifting but after the delayed response and continuing slight acceleration I feel a small hesitation. It's almost as if there is a slight cut in gas or just a ever so slight loss of power but instantly recovers. Once again this is after the shift and just normal acceleration. At first I just marked it up as me being crazy but has happened several times since to where it's grabbed my attention. Any one else notice this?

I feel it with my truck and it seems to happen at 2.5k rpms every time. I've heard others talk about it thinking it's a misfire but the dealership said there was no code. I think it's normal for this engine.

Same here. Early indications from M/T owners that have applied the OVTune Alpha are good - throttle response greatly improved and hesitation gone. Still waiting on a thoroughly detailed report though..

Looks like someone else beat me to it but it looks like that's how these trucks are tuned for some reason. The OVTune is rumored to take care of a lot of these hesitation issues and for the auto guys, their shifting issues. I'm waiting for the dust to settle and let some people work the bugs out of it to get the best tune revision later this year. I don't drive the truck every day so I can live with the hesitation down in the low RPMs for a few more months.

Side note, I changed the transmission fluid last night. About 13k miles on the truck so far. Got it used with about 12k on it. Smelled like shit and looked like shit. Glad I did this now instead of waiting. Time to do the diffs now.

Dang I really want to hold out for a super charger and not spend the money on just a tune, but I may have to just bite the bullet...
