seems to me the high pedal engagement combined with the wonky throttle problem. I'm thinking the shifts may smooth out a lot after i get to OV tune installed. the Pedal Commander has helped massively but it's not linear either, so still tricky.

I still think it is the lack of low end torque causing it.

hey mt pals. I know lots of you follow other threads on TW. I am having an issue and the search isn't pulling anything up. I have developed a pop or clunk type sound coming from the front end on the drivers side. I cant tell if it is the shock/coilover (5100's set @.85) or something else (body mount)? It happens when the driver side tire droops into a dip or a hole or over a big rock. Does anyone remember any threads talking about something similar? any help would be appreciated.

You might check the torque on your cam bolts. Alignment shops almost never torque properly. You can also look at body mounts and radiator core supports for cracks. The radiator core supports are pretty easy to replace.

Check your front 2 body mounts on each side of the radiator. They seem to be causing a similar noise to what you describe.

All ending up below 2000 RPM? I'm convinced my truck is not the same as yours. Ive seen others say they drive similarily. I would not be able to drive mine like that. If I was in 2nd gear at 1100 rpm I would be going nowhere.

Exactly, there is absolutely zero torque down that low.

You would get run over here in Texas driving like that. Mine seldom sees less than 4500rpm before I lift and shift and people tell me I drive like an old man.

Then I'm of no help. If it's what I was thinking it occurs with OME coils.

I'll check the body mounts by the radiator.

This has already been pointed out, but I had a noise similar to this on my last Tacoma (2016 Automatic AC) and it was the radiator support. It only happened when the body torqued a certain way. The dealership replaced the support and I didn't have the issue anymore. The only way it was able to be diagnosed was because other Tacomas had come into the dealership recently with the same sound and problem.

Why would low end torque cause bucking during shifts. If you shift the gears perfectly and have the transmission and engine rpms in perfect sync when you release the clutch, it doesn't matter if you have 5 torque or 500 torque, you're not gonna have any bucking or slamming.

Also correlates to throttle position. I can bounce the Rev limiter and still be going slow as shit with barely any throttle. I can also shift at 4k and be going fast.
