I have just adjusted my driving style to it, was just trying to explain the quirks of the truck.

Yah. Was more curious if it's only the mt affected by weird dead spot. Doesn't drive me Too crazy.

I think it is throttle map related. I believe in the OVtune thread I briefly saw a chart where they had a torque/hp curve and then marked where they put the pedal to the floor. Literally nothing changed, the truck just kept on going on its initial curve path.

I've had the auto and manual for 2016. They both had strange mapping where it had "dead" spots and weird hesitations. The manual though I've noticed that if you are stopped and just sort of tap the gas to get a quick jolt in rpms to turn quickly, it acts as if you didn't even press it. It's almost as if you either have to jam the gas pedal and let the rpms skyrocket then release the clutch to quickly take off or press the pedal and hold for a second to make it realize, hey this person meant to do this so lets go.

Understood. Will get used to it I guess love the truck, wouldn't trade it. I know I have the power when I need it. Only have 380 miles in it so haven't gotten to explore beyond the 3000 rpm range. When the time comes I will let her rip :burnrubber:

Been trying out the different shift points @specter208 recommended. Definitely no bucking anymore if you hit those RPMs but the rev hang from 1st to 2nd kills me in traffic. If I wait for the needle to drop I'm getting passed by old grannies in Caddies.

Will try to learn to live with it.

Honestly I'll gun it a bit in 1st to get a good start and then slow shift to 2nd to avoid slamming the clutch, but I always watch behind me and secretly hope someone rear ends me. Daddy needs a new plate bumper :luvya:

You can rev the engine out a little more, just remember to compensate accordingly when you re-engage the clutch. And to help with the rev hang, i find that if you clutch as soon as your foot comes off the gas then the revs should drop a little quicker.

    Little bit of stuff.
So I wanna know, who else on here is currently running a clutch with 200k or more on it? Mine's got 254 and still running strong. Mind you, I'm feeling like it's gonna give me maybe another 10k before it's run its course, but everyone I've talked to it gives me the same jaw dropped face of awe when I tell them how long it's lasted, so I'm wondering if it's a common thing with the original clutches so long as they aren't beaten on

I bought my truck used with 170k on it. Based on the fact that even the spark plugs were original, I highly doubt the clutch has ever been replaced. Still seems to work fine though!

It depends a lot on how you drive and the conditions....lots of hills and stop/starts vs interstate miles, but 254 is awesome. My bearing went at 180, so also replaced the plate.

254k on the original clutch? Nice job not burning it out. I doubt mine will last anywhere near that. I tow with mine, take it to the mountains, and downshift to slow down a lot of times. I'll probably kill this clutch faster than normal and have the brakes last longer than normal.

Is it ok to pull a 7% grade (aka Conejo Grade) in 6th going 66mph?

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Pulled the Kancamangus with no issue. Granted it drops down in speed in turns. Grade wise it's comparable.

Ran a 6% grade in cruise control up about 3k feet. Just watched my boost gauge dip up every so often. Truck took it like a champ, didn't struggle at all. Just made sure to keep RPMS at about 3k the whole way so the power was there ;)

Yeah, that one. Was about to break 70 mph in 5th so I thought I would shift. Truck held 66mph in 6th well but I wondered if I was stressing the transmission more than I should.

Depends on the load. If it were me, I'd be in 5th gear cruising around 3k Rpm. That's a pretty steep hill, and it's short enough you could just slow down to put less stress on the truck.
