that's interesting. i would assume that would eventually show accelerated wear, but apparently not. my truck has a distinct snap when it engaged at what feels to me to be the diff area, but no clunk or anything of a metallic nature.

No my truck is all stock for now, I decided to upgrade the clutch first since my clutch is slipping too much. And offroading with it on slow(4lo) technical with over 30deg incline is bitc*. My truck bogs and doesn't hold.
Next I will probably regear and do a full URD exhaust setup & CAI.

have you considered the OV tune for improving throttle control? i wheeled mine on a 30deg trail before the tune and 'yotas throttle management added to the challenge. the OV tune cleans it up and takes it to pretty linear. highly recommended for that.

Yeah I have considered that since I lost some power after my lift & going with a bigger tires. Is it basically plug & play? And what's the cost?

I feel like I can share openly here: I just got my 2017 last week. Due to the facts that I will be driving alot in traffic with my new job, and the deal was too good to pass up, I am now slamming my foot in the floorboard every time I think I have to shift in my damn automatic! :(
I will miss my shitty little jeep...s manual transmission, but the overall vehicle upgrade was needed.
Some day I will own a manual again, but for now I have to suck it up. Until that day, I will be jealously glaring at you guys! :p

I did this set up back in November of last year on my 3rz. It's an Aisin 3rz disk, pilot bearing, and throw out bearing mated with a 5vz pressure plate. Also installed a URD short shifter and a Marlin shifter bushing.
    It's holding well so far.

it's about $700 and provides ongoing updates and, soon, datalogging for tune customization as well.

the term plug & play is slippery here... yes it is in a sense but you still need a basic skillset for dealing with Windows, maybe some PC setup for connecting to your truck... that kind of thing. if you're comfortable with flashing yourself then it's a no brainer.

So I have a project in mind. I want to make a nylon shift boot to replace the leather one I have (just the leather bit, no other part of the assembly). But I want to get an OEM one to use as a pattern/ something to harvest the other bits from/ mess with one that isn't on my truck currently. I did some googling and only found ones for 2nd gen Tacos or aftermarket options.

So in a round about way, does anyone have an OEM one they are looking to sell? It doesn't need to be in perfect shape since it will be used to make a pattern anyways.
If this isn't in the right area, please let me know :)

    Thanks!

My first warranty work on my 2016 Tacoma 4x4..

At 26,000. , my clutch assembly started to squeak bad and feel rough..

Its at the dealer, they are going to replace the whole assembly inside the cab that includes the piston, and misc parts!

I also have this clunk - swinging by Toyota this week to have it investigated. I need to have the clutch assembly in the truck greased anyways.

Clunks in neutral over bumps, clunks in gear over bumps, and clunks when shifting if not perfectly rev matched.
