My 2013 was a manual and did get about 1 mpg less than the 17 TRD OR, but I can't be sure since I didn't record it.

The 10 pin are 2.3II I believe. Thanks for the suggestions, but haven't been able to match it all up yet...Maybe just incompetent today.

Newp, might just be loose part like heat shield. Or could be hill start assist related (cuz you have that) but I don't think that would sound like a rattle.

When the RPMs drop to about 500r under load like on a hill. I hear a rattle sound from possibly the engine or underneath the truck.

I'll hum a few bars for ya, lol. Seriously tho, 500 rpm is quite low...at that point you must be in first I would assume. At 500 rpm there would be a low resonance that would rattle anything that's loose. At 500 rpm if you are feathering the fvck outta the throttle under load, and you hear a rattle then I'd say loose something. If at 500 rpm under load (hill) and you get on it and it goes but it sounds like the pistons are slapping around in the jugs...id say ping.

Need to pinpoint the location of the sound

This all happens in first gear and when still slipping the clutch. RPMs will hold the truck around 1000rpm and then the engine slows down to close to 500rpm and Ill hear the sound. I would say it sounds like valve clatter on a Diesel engine. I park the truck on my driveway pointing uphill btw.

Well that sounds like it's lugging. Do you want the rpm at 500? Lil more skinny pedal if you can't get the momentum up.

Yeah. I'm usually very good with hill starts. But on my driveway I use wheel chocks when parking and if I don't line the truck up properly when backing in I have to retry and the truck struggles more for some reason. My driveway isn't super steep either. I would add the the truck doesn't shake/vibrate bad when I hear the noise.

Oh, this is reverse? Thought you said you nose up. In reverse, it's a stoopid ass tall mofo. In reback, momentum is your friend

Oh no. You were right the first time. Driveway is going down. Which means nose of truck points up the driveway when I back in.

I've seen those driveways...never understood why someone would want a grade TOWARD the house, but I digress.

Dunno dood, I'd say keep the rpm above 1K where shit doesn't rattle, use your friend the E-brake if necessary

I preferred an ACC, but no MT, and after driving the OR for over a year I just can't get into the automatic. I never had an auto truck. I no longer need the long bed (long story), and Karl Malone is giving a good deal on the Pro MT and the trade, so that's it. I removed the RCI sliders from the 17 and will put them on the Pro. Not much else, the BAK tonneau cover and Falken tires. Thats' about it. I'll be selling the cover for the 17 and the TRD Baja suspension that I have new in box that I never installed. Also, the diff gears in the MT are substantially lower. I do notice the difference on some of the steep rocky trails with the higher gears in the 17. Buying the 17 was a mistake on my part, and one that is costing me.

I knew a few minutes into the test drive that I couldn’t live with that automatic!

After all that chatter from you in the LB vs SB thread and how "superior" your truck is, I am really beginning to wonder about your choices man.
Who buys a house with a driveway that slopes so steeply towards the house, did you not notice this before you moved in?
Can you even drive a manual? You probably should have bought an auto.
