Those 3 little tubes are adapter sleeves, used to guaranty the fit.

I have had an after market shifter knob on my MR2, that with the help of some JB WELD epoxy, it has stayed solidly in place for the past 20 years.

Has anyone here done any gear swaps by any chance? Just curious.

I've been known to swap 6th for 5th, the odd 4th for 3rd (rare) but have never swapped 1st for Reback. That I can attest to.

If you mean ratios, there's a couple main threads to the two most popular swaps.

I've been known to puff a lil before posting...ymmv

    Welcome!

Two questions: 1. Did Toyota do some trickery to make the brakes "hold" for a just a tick to help people with hill starts and stuff? 2. Does whatever they did also cause the pedal to be really mushy, cuz mine is...?

    1. Yes *in qualifying models

sorry, I should've clarified.... Brake pedal is mushy, like halfway to the floor and it takes several pumps to get it to build a lot of pressure. I don't notice it when driving but, when sitting at a light.

    1. Some Tacomas have hill start assist, TRD Sports i think.
    2. Which pedal? if the clutch accumulator delete mod. If brake i have noticed a softer pedal on vacuum boosted models compared the hydro boosted models like the TRDOR.

2019 Sport here. No hill-start assist button, we all know Toyota loves a good button.

Keeps the truck from rolling back while stopped on a hill after the brake is released, about 3 seconds. Makes it easier to start off without rolling back.

Been driving manuals for 40yrs so no newbie here.

At first I didn't even realize the truck had hill assist but it sure helps when easing the truck into my garage. Don't knock it until you've tried it under my conditions.

I’ve been in vehicles that have it. Not a fan. After years of driving without it, it doesn’t do me any good

Like I stated, been driving manuals for 40yrs (actually 42 yrs, I'm 57). I can still use the ebrake or the hill assist and for my daily driving it's nice to have since it works.

I've driven 10 speed MT eighteen wheeler's on black ice, manual fork lifts, motorcycles etc etc etc. Hill assist is not a big issue for me, came with the truck so I use it.

No, I didn't mean that. Try that with the underdash mounted e brake on a 1st Gen or early HiLux for awhile then get back to me.
