clicking pedal. 55k miles and never had this. until this morning and now it's every press. o_O

high pitched metallic click at the bottom of pedal travel and i can clearly feel the click in the pedal. the whole cheesy ass pedal assembly clicks. i hate this pedal.

my groaning is back so disk brake grease later today, but this clicking is so odd. any ideas other than fight with the dealer for a POS part i don't actually want?

My 04 does this from time to time. No idea why, comes and goes though. Sharp little click/pop that you can feel in your foot when the pedal goes down.

Mine just started to make a sounds that is a combination of a rocking chair in an old house and two whales communicating under water when letting off the clutch slowly (mostly between 1st and 2nd). Don't think it's impacted the functionality more so it's just an irritating sound. Truck is only at 23k miles too.

My truck just started making the same sounds. I brought it to the attention of the local Toyota dealer. They have ordered the parts to do a corrective TSB, free as a warranty service.

Just to confirm you did it under T-SB-0186-12 right?

I'm actually trying to get in there before my appointment so I don't need to wait to have my appointment just so they can confirm what I already know and then I have to come back for a second appointment.

both you guys can fix that on your own in 60 seconds. put on a latex/nitrile glove, get a two finger wad of disk brake grease, and smear it all into the return spring above the pedal. be sure to get it well into all the internal coils and miss nothing. that fixed me up for a full 18 months or so before reapplication.

The TSB has not been performed yet. They are waiting for parts. So far, no paperwork. I do not know the TSB number.

That’s great info. If the sound returns when the truck is off warranty, I’ll give your method a try.

Not only that, but there have been a couple posts about Tacos coming out worse than they went in.

I looked into doing that but wouldn't that just be a temporary fix for part of the equation? If I am reading this TSB correct it also entail replacing the clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder assembly, and the clutch master cylinder hose in addition greasing it up.

there are evidently different levels or versions of the sound issue.

if you have the simple spring groan and friction feeling and that is all, then the grease fix is for you. it's a dry spring from the factory. what kind of sound and feeling does a tightly wound dry spring coil produce? exactly! now lube it.

if the issue is beyond what is described above, then look further.

over and over folks with the simple dry spring noise go to the dealer and get turned away because nothing is broken. and they don't understand the lube thing so it will be rare for a dealer to attend to it. it happens, but reports around here appear to be few.

Just had mine in for a noisy clutch and intermittent binding during clutch pedal actuation. Dealership is replacing the pedal assembly and master cylinder. We will see how it turns out, hopefully no issues after that.

Just had mine in for the creaky clutch pedal too and I think that is what they did. They said they replaced the entire assembly. At about 11k miles now and had brought it to their attention during my 10k service. (They had to order parts so took a bit before they got to it, also did the radar TSB at the same time.)

Did it fix the noise from your clutch pedal?

From what I understand, they're just installing another identical clutch assembly.
If that info is correct, then it's very likely that the groaning sound will return.
Like mentioned above, I've greased the spring pivot points and also the rod pivot and the clutch returns to being buttery smooth.
I'm planning to do this at every oil change, and I'm hopeful that it remains quiet and smooth.
