You don't have to. I painted it after I installed the @7r41lbr34k3r knob and the chrome collar was glinting in the sun with the OG grommet mod. Rick has the 2nd Gen collar option that replaces the chrome collar, if you want.

For a custom piece for our limited MT numbers, it is what it is. :notsure:

There was another 3D printed version posted here somewhere that I tried a few times to print. It was no bueno. The linked boot retainer is fused nylon, so it looks a ton better than a filament printer ever will.

i am upset to find that Honda has more of a selection for the small economy cars equipped with MT than Toyota seems to

It is slim pickings all around these days. Even worse is that the MTs are usually on the very base models only. That killed me when we were looking for a Forester.

the local dealer has a Corolla Hatchback in Paprika that i am interested in, its a dealer loaner with 3k miles they want to get rid of and make a good year end deal
    but its AT
maybe i should ask them to transform it on their dime and i will take it off their hands lol

There has been a lot of good talk about the Corolla hatch with the MT.

I think the days of AT to MT swaps are done. I remember a guy doing that on a LeBaron back in the 90s.

The DCLB crowd will talk about trying every once in a while. With our ECUs being different, it sounds like a massive clusterfuck to even try.

LoL! Is it just the ECU, or also the harness with it? I could see the harness either being the same or different. Designers are weird.

Some of those on that list are out of production. But yeah, there used to be an MT option for the Camry.

In 2011 they dropped it for the hybrid. Prior to 2011 is available.

If you are going through the work, might as well swap the harness for good measure

And now, the cluster fuck comes in. :D

To me, the easiest route would be a donor MT Taco totaled in the rear and just swap everything possible. TSS-P Tacos would be an additional nightmare, IMHO. But, a DCLB OR MT does sound pretty tasty, as does an ACLB OR MT. :burnrubber:

Probably easiest to get a DCSB MT, pull the box, stretch the frame, extend the driveshaft and put a long box on.

patriot campers extends the 79 series they build, can’t be that hard.

That would be the easiest from a mechanical standpoint. But then, there is still a lot of harness and hydraulics to mess with. Cutting a frame comes with its own possible worries. I'd only go there if the Taco was a salvage project to start with.
