Thanks! I would probably have gone that route if available here.

    So strange. Still, no regrets.

Just over 2000 miles on my 2020 TRD OR and no chattering yet. My WRX did a while after I installed a "stage 2" excedy clutch and lightweight flywheel but then stopped after a few thousand miles. Hasn't done it in years now.

Mine does it when it is cold and starting out on the odd occasion. After that it is fine. I had a 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS before my Tacoma. 6 speed manual with a lightened flywheel factory. That clutch failed by 120,000 kms. I drove it around for months with chatter and slippage at higher rpm's. Toyota used the same diaphragm on the regular Corolla as the high winding XRS ( 8100 rpm redline ). I hope that Toyota didn't do something similar with the Tacoma clutch and cheap out. Haven't read of too many failures.

Still early in the game for me with only 1033 miles on the truck. But I have always been a manual transmission truck guy. My three previous ones were all 4 x 4 standard transmission and I wouldn't have traded any of them for anything else. I almost bought a 2018 access cab TRD sport because it was a standard transmission truck.

At the end of the day this 2019 left over had to 6 foot bed, a double cab and was a TRD. Those were key features to me (although I was originally looking off road). Then it had almost every option I was looking for after that. The dealer knocked almost 8 grand off the list price then gave me $1500 for my trade in, which I took in a heartbeat since the frame was starting to rot and I had a couple other issues that I could’ve addressed but it still would have the 213,000 miles on it. So long story short, I felt the deal was too good to turn away so bit the bullet and came home with the 2019 TRD Sport left over :) .

It is really cold -22*C and my truck makes a grinding noise for a few seconds after it starts.

Today I shut it off before it had a chance to warmup so I could unlock the tailgate. The truck did not want to restart and showed some warning icons on the dash. It took 2 attempts cranking it to get it to restart. My KAT #11813 block heater is in transit from Amazon and of course the cold snap will likely be over by the time it arrives.

I noticed this weird chatter since truck was new, especially starting uphills. I did not like that all. My ranger started doing that only after about 160k km on the original clutch.

I found it to be very strange that a new truck would do that. Then i read about the clutch fluid accumulator on TW, and it made sense to me why.

I removed that POS and my take offs are smooth as butter now. Highly recommend this mod, much easier and smoother to rev match as well

    Good luck.

-22°! Just getting down to -12° on the mainland. Started my truck this morning. No unusual sounds. Started driving and I kept hearing a light thumping sound. I had the radio and heater on and it sounded like there was a helicopter over me. Shut off the radio and heater, all the slushy mess I drove in the other day had collected in the suspension and chassis and had froze solid. After a few kilometers it quieted down. The cold snap is supposed to be done be Thursday/Friday. You will be ready for the next one though.

Edit... just noticed you winter in the Okanagan. The cold snap might be longer for you.

Did you drive 3rd gen AT tacos? I drove my buddies 2019 and the transmission is very crisp, no "hunting" or any of this bs. It shifts perfectly fine. I can see how 16-18 tacos might have that issue, because the ECU not on the latest update.

Dont get me wrong, i do prefer MT over the slushbox any day of the week.

It is -24*C this morning outside my winter capable 5th wheel trailer but I do have to get out my heat gun to deal with a frozen drain line.

Overnight the patch of tire in contact with the ground will flatten from the weight of a vehicle and at these low temps the flat spot sometimes will freeze solid. So when you start moving, the tires are no longer round resulting in a very loud thumping and vibration. Drive a few kms and the tires warm up and go back to round. It is no big deal except that the first time it happens and you don't know what it is, then its kinda scary.

My work van is front heavy and got RWD of course. Got toyos AT2s but still.

So far no chatter with starting on hills, I do like the hill assist so my Tacoma doesn't roll back in traffic on hills.

I did recently get a work injury on my left knee which makes it a pain to shift in traffic.

Yes, the hill assist comes in handy over here. Some crazy hills sometimes. Saves the clutch for sure.

No chatter? Nice. Do you still have the clutch fluid accumulator?
