i will have to doublecheck, i was in Germany for a year before the whole cell phone/texting craze came about, but i recall recently reading up on how there are serious fines and/or loss of license if caught with a cell phone/texting unless your car is parked and perhaps engine turned off :notsure:

it is actually something else to max your little 4cyl rental out at that speed and get passed by an Audi wagon full of underage kids on their way to practice

It’s a sliding scale for multiple offenses with loss of driving privileges. Fines start around $100 and go up drastically from there. Depending on the country the minimum fine could be $500 or more.

... had my truck up to 11k elevation this past week near Vail Colorado, weather was great, no clouds or snow falling
it has not been up here since June 1998 in the summer so its been a very long time since i had to climb and descend some steep grades
traffic was light so did not really have to downshift to pick up speed to pass, just kept it in 5th giving it more gas to maintain 60mph or so and not dip below 2k RPMs
coming back down was relatively easy, keeping in 5th again with no gas pedal and occasionally tapping the brakes when needed, which was not all that often

I had driven this I-70 in the past with an AT company Astro van in the mid 90s and don't exactly recall the experience, but with an AT if you let off the gas to coast does it just go into neutral and start picking up speed on the descent :notsure: and have to apply brakes more often to slow down the steep grades without burning them up by riding them

I don't do stickers or decals of any sort, but if I did I think I would go with a smaller one.

i would do a magnet if they had one, just take it off the tailgate and throw in the cab when parked ... don't want any funny business while left unattended!

    I have found my people!

Really wanted a DCLB MT. Since I couldn't have both DC and LB with the MT I ended up with a DCSB. No regrets, though I haven't yet slept in the back. My "endangered species" sticker is on the way. ;)

Does anyone know if the RC62F will bolt to a 4.0 V6 in a 1st Gen Tundra?

Still reading through this long thread - so far I cannot disagree with much as I am an avid MT owner. My wife has a 2019 4-Runner AT and I struggle driving it here in the Colorado mtns where we live. I have to admit I have mixed feelings about all this new technology as the everyday driver now relies on the auto amenities and no longer knows how to handle a vehicle without the gadgets. I personally believe everyone should learn how to drive a manual to better learn how a vehicle handles on the road in different traffic. The same goes for parallel parking - what better way to learn the perimeter limits of your vehicle. Don't get me wrong the safety amenities are awesome but they are not amenities they are relied on tools of the vehicle so it begs the question when one fails them what? Lane change indicators - great but do you know how to properly set and use your mirrors? I could go on but promise not to - Love the MT and was shocked how hard it was to find (had to special order my Taco) MT's in the US. Had a long discussion with Toyota USA about this. Unfortunately, I have to admit I see where they are coming from as the current market is driving the switch over to all AT to the point Toyota USA will be fazing out ALL MT vehicles in the very near future. The same goes why Toyota USA does not and will not offer their diesel engine in the US market - I wanted one so bad. Toyota International still makes the LC 76 with MT and manual shift for 4-wheel drive with a turbo diesel. I found where and how to get one in the US but would not be able to license it here. No not emission issues - safety, they do not meet the US safety requirements (enough airbags, wall absorption and other specs). The LC 76 is a true Off-Road monster. The 4-cylinder turbo diesel is very efficient and far superior to the US emission standards not to mention the mileage in the mid 40's. This leads to why Toyota does NOT offer their diesel in the US, our diesel fuel prices are higher than regular gas so they feel the market will not support the cost to produce a diesel option here. But I digress - thank you for letting me vent here.

Glad to find this thread! I got my 2020 Off-Road back in October. The 3 pedal option was the primary reason I got a Tacoma over the competition. Loving it so far!
