really depends on exactly what you want. the Core is for real, truly mechanical & clear. but it is more expensive, has its own shaft and SAE threading so you can't use metric knobs without an adapter. it's noisy in some trucks. i would buy it again and skip all the others. had the URD for 2 years.

i have the stock unit with the URD SS installed and would be happy to send it to you if the URD was your choice. but you can't have my Core. :D

Thanks for the information, really appreciate it! Is it true that the URD doesn't last as long (wear and tear)? Also, when you installed the URD, or any short shifter kit, did you have to cut any part of the frame? The video I watched last night, the guy cut his frame to get to remove some bolt...

i never saw any report of the Core wearing out. conversely, my URD & stock combo was going pretty soft after 2 years. i can't see that happening with this Core. I've had it on a few months.

never heard of cutting the frame to install a SS. who would do that? but yes, trimming the tunnel to get fingers to the bolts. i didn't install mine but that's what I've seen and my tech also did that to install it. that's not destructive like cutting the frame. someone really did that?

I installed my URD over a year ago. Zero cutting. The front studs and nuts are tight to access. As for wear and tear. I think the only issue would be the factory rubber insulator in the shaft can wear out over time or a poor install causing parts failure. The core looks like a nice shifter but I am completely happy with the URD shifter.

the rubber insulator mentioned here helps it stay quiet, where the Core gets all the mechanical feel but also the noise. but the point is those bits go soft over time and i definitely saw that on my URD. after 2 years i gave myself the option of either modifying the URD to tighten it up, or replace with the Core.

I’ve driving sticks since 1977. I learned on a Ford -150 column shift.

It is very tough using a stick in Pittsburgh with all the crazy hills.

Ah, trimming the tunnel. That's what I meant to say. Helpful stuff! I'm thinking about the core, the noise is my only remaining concern. My stock setup already has transmission noise, so, more than that seems a little much, no?

Got around to doing the ADM. Crazy how much this small change can make such a big difference.

Still not a fan of how clunky this tranny is...and I don’t mean clunky as in excessive gear lash, I mean clunky like the mounts are bad.

All in all, with the Core shifter, OV tune, and now the ADM it’s not too bad!

Finished it off with a thick coat of Cosmoline for rust prevention.
