I looked at an 18 OR manual w/ premium package on it a couple years ago with like 5k miles on it. Was about to pull the trigger but couldn't because we were in the process of some life changes. Now fast forward to today and couldn't find what I wanted in the color I wanted so had to settle for the auto. I mean I like it an all but the 6spd would be even more fun so hats off to you gents.

    ???

That doesn't really make sense. The transmission is more important than the color... obviously. Unless you literally couldn't find any manual trucks anywhere. In that case, wait until you do.

There’s 2 of them sitting on the lot by me still the dealer is bending over trying to sell them. One off road and one sport.

Maybe to some it does, to me color means more than transmission and wait times for build quoted to me by several were anywhere from 6-8 months. I can live with the auto and they worked pretty hard to try and sell it to me so I agreed. I can understand your point as well though

Don't take me too seriously. I'm just teasing you. We all have our priorities. Although, if you ever trade in your 6AT for a 6MT, your view may be different. The 6MT is an exponentially more positive experience.

lol ah I knew you were:cool: When I tested out that 6speed I knew immediately the accumulator would have to go because the clutch just felt way to squishy for my taste and I'm sure eventually if I found the right replacement a manual would happen just down the road. For now I wanted a truck and it was the right time so I had to take what I could find because well...I'm impatient and know a decent deal when I find it too:rofl:

I was too, until I looked at and drove the ‘20. Then the ‘20 came home with me.

I owned a 1989 Toyota Pickup M/T, 2001 & 2012 Tacos M/T until my 2016 Taco A/T. Nothing against the A/T. It was a good truck, but... I took advantage of the rebates to get back into a M/T. I knew immediately I made the right choice driving back from the dealer. Feels like I’ve come home. :yay:

at Fridays oil/lube/filter + senior wellness checkUp the indie Toyota mechanic noted the throwout bearing is starting some mild(ish) noise
so its probably going to be needing a new clutch and all that some day soon... but how soon?
how long, until whatever noise that has not yet become cumbersome to me (unless this is that odd vibe at 2.1k rpm that first popped up during last summers A/C season) will i need to succumb to a $1500 quoted repair
or just git rid of the shitbox and let the next guy 2nd owner deal with it...

No way to know how long it will last because it’s really just depends on your driving style. Most the time around 100k is what to expect so 150k is really pretty good. I would fix it if the rest of the truck is in good condition.

$1500 for a clutch seems really steep. Never had one done on a Tacoma, but that is more than twice what I paid at the most in the past

I just had the clutch replaced in my 99. Was $900 at a local shop. Dealer quoted $1100.

did that include a new flywheel, or just resurfaced?

i suppose my local dealer would be over $2k with their rates, but have not checked with them

i was really thinking i could get past 200k (most miles are easy highway miles, limited stop and go)
there is no noticeable slipping uphill yet, just some noise he could hear that i can't detect or know what to even listen for lol

    ....
    clutch flywheel... Part Number:13405-62030
    nearly $500 at wholesale
