I was behind a Colorado in traffic and the tailgate on it seemed like it was at the height of my rear view mirror.

Yep! I noticed that on the Ranger also. The bed rails were at eye level. It sure makes me miss these days:

I had a (from new) 2014 Audi allroad before this truck. For four years the 8 speed automatic would shift from first through fifth as fast as it could when cold. On my initial drive from the parking lot through my neighborhood to the first stop sign. Less than 100 yards. Dealer could do nothing about it. The manufacturers program the computers this way intentionally to maximize mpg numbers. Hence the reason I got a manual transmission this time. I decide what gear, when, and for how long.

    So true.

But then, some MT folks had to suffer through that same shit. Like the skip shift in Vipers and Vettes.

When I used to go there, just before they would move only my Taco would there be an intercom call: "lot porter to the service area." Code!

Do these work? If not, tell me exactly what angle you want to see.

I went to get my tires balanced at the local shop here. The tech selected 6th to go into reverse, was pretty funny. I had to tell him "hard left"! He seemed a bit confused.

Does the accumulator delete make that big of a difference?

I've driven an old 1995 7.3 powerstroke with a ZF6, a manual trans 2008 Ford Focus and of course my Taco and they all seem fine.
Fine in the sense that it doesn't seem all that hard to speed through the gears quickly if needed.

I don't know if anyone has a quantifiable comparison that's easy to express/share?

guess that depends on you. most around here say yes. i say yes for sure. i'm on a new clutch i have all kinds of detail coming through the pedal now. on release from a stop into first i get a predictable 3 slip minor chatter as it engages, for example. tons of detail. that doesn't matter to everyone but it definitely does help to work the clutch skillfully. with the accumulator it was always guesswork.

I had heard of them prior to the Taco but never had driven one. I have no quantifiable numbers. Mostly qualifiable anecdotes. :D

For me, it made rev matching harder and would give me wonky shifts if I needed to make an adjustment mid shift.

My main descriptor, that folks take some issue with, is that I can now drop it in 1st smoothly at 30mph. I couldn't do that at 5mph with the accumulator.

The slow engagement and non-direct throw was just unnatural.

I lived or worked in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for many years. Their drivers (even in the Campania region of Italy) are paying attention and not distracted by drinking coffee, makeup application, reading paperbacks (seen it firsthand), cellphones, iPads (I once saw a girl in Miami operating a cellular and an iPad while driving). Even Canada, where I spend my summers, the people are not on their cellulars. It’s a cultural acceptance issue in the States. The only solution may be fully automated vehicles. I don’t see young people here wanting to learn stick-shift.

In some heavy traffic, a person reading a book once drifted toward the lane I was in. After I honked at them, they gave me a nasty look and went back to reading and driving by braille.

Yeah. I spend summers in Ontario near Mt. Forest. Not a Sport though but MT with the four doors and the short bed.
