I know, it's a Toyota forum, but the Silverado I had, drove it 6 1/2 years. Put 232 of its 260k miles on it in that time. Never touched the trans. Asked my mechanic man if we should, you know, change trans/diff fluids or anything of the sort, and his approach is pretty much "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Right or wrong, that entire pickup did me right over those years. It's the first automatic I'd had in a heck of a long time, and the most miles I've put on one. My diesel has had a lot more money put in clutches, etc, for it's 271k, but it's also had a lot harder life.

Figures, lol. Think bolt on steel snout vs our machined aluminum one, does the trick. Maybe there were some other changes, but i cant remember.

I believe someone mentioned that there is a hydraulic TOB that is available for the 2nd Gens? Gets rid of the stock slave and fork setup.

Ya, there was a urd one they quit making and someone else came up with a kit, but seen several failures on those leaving people stranded with know response from the other company (not URD one). Cant recall that company. So keep on chirpin on in the free world. For me anyway.

Good to know. That sucks though. It was made to sound more robust than stock. I suppose not.

I was thinking by 4th Gen I might finally be able to buy the truck I’ve wanted for a decade now. EV compact pickup. We shall see.

Yeah the 4th Gen will be at minimal a hybrid, and likely eventually full EV. At this point I just assume the MT is dead in the Tacomas when 4th Gen comes out, and will be surprised and happy if I'm proven wrong. Get them while you can!!

I think I missed a good opportunity to utilize the Clutch Start Cancel over the weekend.

Was driving up the trail to the West Winfield Trailhead in CO in the dark (thought I'd make it there with some daylight left, but nope). Came up and over a big hump and found myself in the middle of a small clearing with no more road in sight. When I got out I noticed a narrow rocky path off to the right, but I decided I had had enough wheeling in the dark and figured I was probably close enough so I'd set up camp. (Turns out that rocky path was only another 50 yds to the trailhead).

Wanting to park at least somewhat close to level, I backed up down the slope to my left. With my nose pointed up the steep incline I decided to try the hand-brake maneuver to get my right foot off the brake and apply some throttle while releasing the clutch. I stalled it on my first attempt. The option to use Clutch Start Cancel did not occur to me at the time, so I just re-started and did the hand-brake method again. I got it on the second try, which shouldn't have been hard in the first place since I was in 4-lo 1st gear.

It wasn't until yesterday that I had the "Ah-Ha!" moment and realized I could have used CSC to start in gear. Maybe next time I'll think of that.
