All the current trucks with lockers are 8.75 so I’d assume it’s the same..

DSSV is at least fully mechanical, so a bit less to break.

Honestly he makes really good money and can eat a little depreciation. He lives in the PNW where I do now but had bought the FJ when he was in New Jersey and it had just hit a point it was needing too much upkeep to justify given the swiss cheese frame. The plan all along has been enjoy the ZR2 and lose it for the Bronco before GM build quality really bites him in the ass. He(or I for that matter) never imagined it'd have serious problems in a year.

It will be interesting to see where it all ends up. It is certainly too early to know for sure.

Oh yeah. I'm originally from PA. I don't miss the corrosion issues at all.

The Bronco seems killer and is very tempting. I really hope that Ford gets it right on the quality side.

That is my guess, but it is such an odd package. I don't think @Jeff Lange has noted anything yet?

Yep. I took one for a drive. On road, it does feel different, but not too much.

Yes. My TRAC system has had trouble keeping an unloaded wheel from spinning due to the lower line pressure in higher torque situations, but it has not let me down yet, including the time that I plopped it in 2Lo versus 4Lo on a rocky climb. The electrically boosted system is unquestionably better, but the vacuum boosted one is no joke either. It has been the only traction control system that I actually like and do not shut off by default.

Bummer the MT has been largely phased out. I'll just continue buying used...

Yeah tbh it'd be weird having a suspension like that. When I had thoroughly trashed my stock Bilsteins the options were either just replace them, which is cheap, or upgrade them which is fun. It would be a very strange decision if the choices had been to spend $7000 on OEM replacements or downgrade to a nice but less nice aftermarket setup.

Ford tends to be solid though.

I went to college in Eastern PA(didn't know how spoiled I was after growing up in Portland, came straight back after. My hobbies all revolve around cars and outdoors, made me really appreciate what I have out here as far as rust free cars and mountains lol), I bought my 2nd Gen 4Runner between my junior and senior years of college and drove it out. A week's drive east made it go from every skier/offroader on a budget's cheap wheels to something that got compliments at gas stations.

Here's said 4Runner(as well as the aforementioned FJ) out at Rausch Creek out in PA if you know it.

Sounds about right. I especially like how easy they make it to shut off the power cutting without losing the brake vectoring. Best of both worlds if you don't have a mechanical LSD in my book.

I know what direction I would go for the price of a couple shocks. Haha!

Smart move! The only nice thing about back that way is that there are some of the fun roads. Here, we have it all, along with the rest of the cool stuff in the west.

I don't know Rauch Creek, but I did have some friends from Pine Grove. I'm from the western side of the state and my wife is from NW of there.

Exactly. Mech LSDs or lockers would be the preferred route, but short of that, I'm pretty happy.

ATRAC is pretty ba.... It's also expensive AF when stuff breaks. Different abs sensors and modules, different brake boosters etc

Yeahhh but upgrading was fun, and cheap is well cheap. I'd really hate spending what's still good money on a downgrade, or less on a huge downgrade.

Ah nice. I went to school at Lehigh in Bethlehem, sorta an hour outside Philly. My mom's from outside of Pittsburgh though, sorta know Western PA from visiting my grandparents and such growing up.

Rausch was quite intense haha. Honestly was a great way to go from a very green off roader to knowing what I was doing. Picked up a ton of skills with only a few dents on a truck I spent $3500 on(and sold for $3500 two years, two trips across the country and 30k miles later. Actually even saw it in Portland the other day, I could tell it was definitely actually my old one because I knew all the dents and how they happened ). All the trails there are technical, there was no wimping out of the technical stuff and dinking around forest roads instead.

Now why can't I have a lockable LSD? Someone needs to come up with this, I know it exists for center diffs.

    I'm cheap! Hahaha!

I knew a couple folks that went to Lehigh a long time ago.

I saw a car that I sold once and was amazed that it was still on the road. But, old Toyotas don't die. They just gather up new parts.

You definitely learn fast, but it is always worth it to have some fun and get away from folks.

Space or money issue? I have no real idea though.

And meet like minded folks! Two of my best friends now were two guys at Lehigh I really wasn't in the same circle as, we were loose acquaintances till we all showed up with 4x4s senior year. We started going out to Rausch together because you really need a group for spotting and recoveries for a place like that. Both of them are from near Lehigh originally, fast forward 5 years and one's in Seattle, one's in Bend and they're the only people I'm still close with from college.

Well I'm a bored nerd and just looked at a diagram for how that works. Basically you piggyback an LSD behind the transfer case, so when it's open the LSD is doing its thing, and when you lock it the LSD will be doing nothing because of course both shafts will be turning at the same speed. Doesn't sound practical on an axle.

Wheeling folks are always good. That's killer that you guys ended up out here.

Yeah. Not enough space in the axle housing.
