OK. Did not see that thread. I wonder if there is a 2nd Gen thread for the same thing...off to look for what I didn't see before.

Interesting manual transmission stats from the current KissMyGrits spreadsheet for all current Tacomas inbound to the United States:

    All Vehicles --- 6MT --- 6MT%
    All Tacomas ------- 2,763 ------ 108 --- 3.91%
    All TRD 4WD ------ 1,082 ------ 108 --- 9.98%
    TRD PRO -------------- 72 ------- 38 -- 52.78%
    TRD O/R 4WD ------- 424 ------- 20 --- 4.72%
    TRD Sport 4WD ----- 586 ------- 50 --- 8.53%

    Those MT numbers don't add up. 108 + 38 + 20 + 50 =... 108. Lol

Edit: I see what they did. That second line is superfluous since all of the MT are four-wheel drive

Yes, I just wanted separate percentages for all Tacoma compared to just those available with 6MT as an option.

mathematically, that indicates that Toyota has [unsurprisingly] drawn down MT production since years ago they'd announced that 5% of the trucks get produced as 6MT

Yeah, especially because I'd been under the impression that the 5% ratio was carried through to the Pro AT vs MT ratio

It looks like the number was reduced when Toyota stopped offering the MT with the 4 cylinder trucks. It's a shame. The 4 cylinder is a lot better performer with the MT IMO.

If my memory serves me Toyota tried to mess with the MT production before. I think they didn't produce the MT in the early v6 4x4 extra cabs around 2000? I think they had just started offering, or reoffering, it in 2001 when I bought my 1st gen?

A 2017 SR, with an OEM Hilux leather shift knob and an aftermarket boot retainer that is labeled TRD. The Clazzio seat covers class it up.

I don't know why Toyota stopped building the Tacoma 4 cylinder with the MT. I think, like around 2000, they're just fishing, to see if people would accept it? Compared to the auto, the MT is a whole different animal. IMO

I tried to get one of these and the dealership I was with absolutely refused to help me out at all. Unfortunately I was stuck dealing with one of their lemons so I didn't really have a choice to go anywhere else at the time

As this is an allocation snapshot, it could just reflect part of a batch build, or one batch separate from a larger one some other time of the year?

The wide diversity of the VIN serial numbers suggests this is not a "batch build" of Tacomas with manual transmissions.

I had a 2000 V6 extended cab in MT, you must be thinking of the 03-04 Double Cab as they were AT only, then in 2005 you could get MT Double Cabs.

It was a shame they cancelled the manual 4 cylinder after 2017, that was a solid combination.

That must be what I remembered. I know Toyota was meddling with the (MT no MT) thing even back then. Probably testing the waters for what they eventually did do to the 4 cylinders.
