So you upped your shift point to 2k?

That should've been your starting shift point imo lol

For upshifts yeah I've long since adjusted to shifting 1st to 2nd at over 3-3.5k.
But when slowing down to under 10mph and shifting into 2nd to continue on, that's where I still get the pulses.

Mine does the same and really just does not want to accelerate at all when going that slow in 2nd. so annoying when I get stuck at about 8 mph which feels too fast for 1st and too slow for 2nd.

Mine had this issue on the stock tune as well as OTT, despite everybody touting the OTT tune as having a huge boost in torque. I'm not sure there really is a tune out there that fixes low end improvement that drastically, but if there is, I'd certainly like to try it. Mine does the pulsing thing to some degree as well. Overall I just feel like my engine has no power at all until like 1500 rpm+. Yotawerx seems interesting and a potential improvement but I need to hear from others before I drop more money on tuning.

The 1-2 gap is annoying. I try to anticipate it now and drop speed to fall to first instead of bogging second. The only time you can get away with it easily is if you're going down a grade.

That's a decent idea, slow down enough to the point that it's reasonable to get into first gear. I do that in parking lots most of the time now, but slow rolling traffic I still only drop to 2nd so I'm not revving it out immediately once we start moving.

It's always when it's just a little too fast for first gear, but 2nd gear isn't quite happy yet. Try the taking your foot off the accelerator for half a second technique. So far every time I try it, the pulsing is gone when I get back on the pedal.

Originally I thought it had to do with the traction control mode where it'll cut engine power when it deems necessary. But early in my investigating I tried switching modes to where it supposedly shouldn't do that and the pulsing still occurred. I think. I'll try it again.

Yeah even with the tune second still seems to fall on it's face. Although I'm several tunes behind with my manual. I'm hoping the regear to 4.88 definitely helps this issue. But that's a ways down the road yet

The cliffs that I was referring to are there regardless of TCS state, but it would be good to test. Back in the day, there were some comments about the power delivery feeling a bit better with the Long Press of the button. I would have tried it more if it weren't for the full stop aspect.

Good afternoon, did you ever end up reaching out to our DFW-based tuner regarding the possibility of him tuning your truck and then going with you on a ride-along to see how you like it?

Some other individuals who could give further feedback on the YW offering include @MOC221_ and @su.b.rat

The YotaWerx Tuning thread is also a good resource for getting feedback from other MT owners.

Right. Initially I guessed it was the TCS because it was the first thing I could think of and didn't know about the cliffs.

I have not yet. It’s in the plans. For now I’m meeting up with my previous tuner to try a few tweaks on the OTT just to see what happens. I’m not really in a rush to do anything at this point but I’ll get it all figured out eventually. Once I determine whether or not my problem is solved, if it isn’t then I’ll get a copy of my tune file and then reach out to the DFW YW guy to see what I can sample and possibly buy.

I still sort of want to wait until after regear before I do anything but that may change.

I’m going 5.29 on mine in February and have a feeling it will help drastically based on other regears I’ve done. I think that’s the main problem, gearing hindering the torque production. I’m just waiting on my gear time slot since the guy I’m using is scheduled far in advance.

I'm worried that 5.29 would ruin the highway experience, since I'm driving to all of my wheeling events and only on 33s lol

2775 at 70 would be pretty dang good on a revvy V6 I think. 4.88 on 33's would be very similar to stock which I'm already not a fan of.

There are definitely a few 33 5.29 manual guys floating around out there who love their setup and don't think the highway experience worsened at all.

That's the key is real world experience because 488 on 33s would be a boost but not a huge one.

4.88/33 will be about 100 rpm higher than stock. Once factoring in the extra weight and leverage of a 33 over the stock 30.5, you're really just about back to stock. If you liked stock, then great, but if not, opt for the 5.29 for the additional boost.

Of course, after being used to 4.30/33 for a while, 4.88 will feel like a welcome change, but in reality it's just putting you back to about the same performance as it had from the factory. I've determined gas mileage is terrible in this truck no matter what so I want the most gearing for my buck.
