or how toyota wont sell us led headlights in canada because they say its unsafe as it doesnt melt snow off in the winter. but at same time sells the pro and limited with led headlights and has led headlights on pretty mucher every other vehicle they make. also acting like most of the us doesnt get snow...

Very good looking truck. I've owned a lot of MT's myself including 6 Toyota 4x4 MT trucks since 1981. I think the gen 3 is the probably the smoothest shifting of all of the trucks. Fun to drive. Enjoy your new truck!

I have a 2019 DCOR with MT. My clutch pedal finally started creaking, so I went in for the TSB replacement. Dealer broke something on the 1st replacement install part. It would click/pop and spring back up in the 1st 2 inches of clutch pedal travel. I took it back and they installed a 2nd new assembly unit. Great, except for the fact that they adjusted the engagement point to the very bottom of the pedal range of motion. Pressure but nothing else until the last 2-3 inches when you could feel the clutch engage/release. Frustrating, but I left it with them a final time. Service manager got involved and shop foreman apparently did the work. It was a long ordeal, but this clutch finally feels like it should have from the factory. Nice predictable engagement, smooth shifting. I have always struggled with this truck's clutch (vague and high engagement point). I ordered (allocated) it since there were no MT anywhere to purchase or even test drive and simply assumed this was the 3rd gen Tacoma clutch experience. I had debated for a long time doing the accumulator mod etc, but now I am wondering if I had a bad pedal assembly from the beginning or simply a poor adjustment from the factory. It feels like a new truck.

Interesting TeeChico. I have a 2023 OR with MT. I keep reading about the accumulator delete and how it will greatly improve clutch engagement and feel. But I have been completely satisfied with how my clutch operates since I received the truck. It is as you describe after the successful application of the TSB - smooth and predictable. I wonder if later years did get improved somehow and the TSB is intended to bring the earlier ones up to date? Odd, I think, that the dealer struggled so much with the application. Glad you finally got the service you and your truck deserve.

I think the dealer struggle was simply due to the low number of MT Tacomas that they likely service. It was also around July 4th so, perhaps a few of the more senior mechanics were off for the week and the newer guy did his 1st clutch assembly replacement?? Super happy with it now though. I had debated about eventually selling since I was never really happy with the clutch, but now it is definitely a keeper.

I've had the creaky clutch pedal TSB done twice now - once on my 2019 and also once on my 2020. I think you just get used to the feel of your broken in one and then when you get the new assembly put in, you get that "new clutch pedal feel" for a bit which is different then you are used to. After a little bit of time it goes back to being broken in or maybe you just get used to it again. I haven't done the accumulator delete mod either, but honestly I haven't really noticed a problem so I haven't felt the need to fix something that isn't broken, at least for me. I hear so much about it that I'd like to try out someone's truck who has it done, just to see if I can really tell a difference and if it is worth the time and effort, but haven't run into anyone yet who has done so.

Hill assist should be standard on every manual. I even have it on my PDK cars.

I always did wonder why the "high" end Off Road and Pro didn't get it....

I finally developed it on my 2019. Im unsure about how TSBs work but did the dealer charge you for the repairs? I tried to get it done but the dealer here wont authorize TSBs under warranty. They said I'd have to get Toyota USA to do it but I def wont have warranty anymore.

I purchased the factory extended warranty so it was covered under that. I was outside of my original warranty. They definitely didn’t honor it as a known TSB problem, which sucks IMHO. The dealer price before my $50 deductible was going to be $860.83. $550 for the part and $250 labor (plus taxes/fees…)

TSBs are usually covered under factory warranty.

If you don't have the warranty, then you'll have to pay for it. But some dealerships can be nicer about it...

Great truck! That's a 6' bed, right? So good to see Toyota still offered the manual for 2023. So many other brands have bailed. I think the only other one may be Jeep, with the Gladiator.

Ok - looks great with the double cab. Man that color is sharp. Mine is also black, but not as nice as that.

And the 4th gen Taco will still offer manual transmission in 3 trims, I believe

The Off Road and Pro have electronic brake boosters instead of the vacuum brake booster on all other models, presumably for ATRAC related features, either ATRAC itself on the M/T's or crawl control on the A/T's. The hill start assist works differently on the A/T Off Road and Pro where it will allow the truck to roll backwards slightly before (what's been described as) crawl control like noises stop it for a few seconds before releasing again. The M/T's (Offroad and Pro) don't have hill start assist. I still don't entirely understand the "why" beyond that, but all my old manuals (1999 and older) never had the feature so I'm used to not having it.

Yes yes I know all of that lol. Just fruitlessly pondering Toyota's bizarre features allocation decisions :drunk:
