Well I drove truck for Bekins Moving way back when for almost 2 years. I can assure you lack of concentration is not a problem!! Why throw a clutch into the equation of backing up a crooked, slight incline driveway with a trailer. Auto is way better in my situation.

My bestfriend's, special lady friend was not able to drive a clutch. The second week I owned my truck, I taught someone how to drive a manual in it. The last few times I have gone to do stuff with them, I throw her my keys and have her drive to get practice. So far, I think she has driven my truck more than my wife.

The clutch and shift is smooth, esp for a truck. Had a quick shift on my second gen as throw was too long imo, but 3rd gen's mt doesn't need it. It's all smooth & tight right off the lot and still awesome after 6k, even better!

Can you describe other MT differences between your previous '15 and your current '16?

Dropped my 2nd gen off at a dealer for a recall. came back after work to get it and had about a 25 minute wait until they found someone that could drive standard. That makes me sadface.

My auto broker is in Denver. He can often get what you want faster and cheaper than a dealer. Send me a message if you're interested. He beat Stevenson and John Elway Toyota by two months and $2000

Its one of the best MT I have used. I personally see no need for a short shifter.

    Its a very crisp shift.

If it counts for anything the 16 drives smoother than a 1st Gen Tundra.

He gets a commission from the sale much like any dealer sales person. Except he is the dealer and the sales persons all in one. So he gets around all of the extra costs and offers the same product at a better price.

When I get home, I will get the contact info off of my desk and message it to you.

I don't know anything about 1st gen Tundra MTs...but a quick google search returned not so good results.

I see you don't have your '16 yet. Were you able to test drive before ordering?

FJ cruiser knob I picked up on EBay for $29, seller (core shifter) has them in black, white & gray. Fits nice. The rubber washer's from Ace.

Probably missing some comparisons. Just my opinion, might be debatable amongst members as most all Toyota MTs are great:
    1. more secure feel at higher speeds, turning, and braking. long road trips noticeably less driver fatigue. It really has the comfort of a car, but still heart of a truck. Overall, the drive on road is night and day improvement compared to my 2nd gen.
    2. Ytd-1-3 mpg better depending on terrain.
    3. Less low end torque on 3rd G, but greater acceleration when downshifting from 6th to 5th or 4th on grades or when passing. Above 3k rpm, that's when you really feel it's. power.
    4. Stronger and more confident brake system and feel.
    5. Quieter, far less road noise
    6. Interior, huge improvement. Wish seats sat slightly lower though.
    7. Easy to use all dashboard features. Big improvement there; from aesthetics, ease of use to all the available features and options.
    8. Cab door lock and cab door slow-mo when opening are another noticeable & nice addition.
    9. More well thought out storage areas under rear seats
    10. heated front seats available in OR option, not just in limited anymore.
    11. Headlights-greatly improved.
    12. Go-Pro mount, imo unnecessary.
    13. Hitch mount ergonomics improved.
    14. Ride's higher even with OEM shocks. Off-road comparison/handle solid, sturdy as well. But Better bc of ground clearance.
    15. Leafs stiffer, frame stiffer
    16. only need to change oil every 10k, not every 5k
    17. downshifted more first 4k/5k than on my 2nd gen, but currently above 6k, noticibly less downshifting on grades about the same now as my 2nd gen
    18. rear camera quality along with 3rd gen passing and parking sensors very useful.
    19. 2 negatives: more torque/power at lower rpm's would be nice, still not an option to get jbl sound on mt (Toyota oem speakers=junk same as on both gens)
