My wife and I have been rebuilding the 91. The 80 we are currently finishing getting parts. We are by no means professionals. Bur we are getting good a fixing these for a new life. We have been struggling to pick the correct oem color option for it.... oddly most the really fun early Toyota colors are off by a year or two... the one color that the original paint was???? Something close to Solar Octane... So we will use it's original paint code and have two flaming orange trucks... not by design... God loves chaos. Look at the original color on the inside of the door. And then look at what it is today on its 2x4 sister

I'd love to learn more about this. I've actually grown over time with these trucks. I love my g3 but gear one is a fucktard moron on steep inclines.

Luckily both the other two climb. I have the most beat up solar octane on TW... I'm not an asshole I just use my toys

Yes sir. Clutch line = clutch fluid line. And yes, get the fluid accumulator deleted.

How complicated is the 4.88 gear mod? Please explain like I don’t change my own oil. **Disregard, just saw your post above

Loved the 20R with a Webber and a header!, reliable as a 1/2” bolt! I had forgotten about the twist e-brake handle, great first truck.

MT over a pass. 24 ft racing sailboat

    image003.jpg

This was a sad day... I burned out my g2s clutch pulling this boat over a very fucking steap hill in Seattle. It was in Ballard I believe. The internet does not tell you "route has 15%hill climb be advised"

But all us well. My niece burned the second clutch out learning MT... have wrenches will wrech

Regearing I definitely paid a shop for that. I was working at the time, no third car, and well not that skilled! But 4.88 in 3rd Gen MT is a whole different truck, IMHO.

Regear is great. I run 5.29s on 1” larger tires than stock and while it is a high revver, I love it and wouldn’t change it.

Just waiting on the right time to buy a 2024 RC60F transmission and then I’ll finally have the drivetrain how I want, sans manual transfer case.

I had an 85 SR5 with 22RE. I loved the thing. I can't remember exactly but was around $6000 new or something, like nothing in today's $$$

You could easy take off in 2nd, maybe 3rd! 1st = crawler.

I have taken off OK in 2nd, 3rd is possible with slight down incline. LOW 4X4 with 4.88 is NICE.

Also I have the rear only LOW switch, love that as well. I can imagine that with 5.29. whoa!

So we have an interesting model. My wife and I are slowly rebuilding trucks and then selling them. We aren't trying to be pro. We just find one that seems right then fix it. Original we were only into the older models and really

OK OK one of you two help me get my g3 up to par. I have welding skills but no lift.

I can take off in 2nd, but it’s pretty tall still. When I do the transmission swap 2nd will be quite low and definitely easy to start in 2nd with, with 1st being more like a granny.

I don’t have the 2L kit anymore since I found I don’t need it with my gearing, but yeah that would be very low and slow too.

I'd love the regear. It truly would make this thing sing. The powerband when you get up into 3500 4400 is amazing. But dropping a clutch to get that as you know is just crazy. So I find interesting ways to make MT way tough. I even completed the narrows on stock tires (I choose to not increase my pros lift or tire size) the results are amazing. Simple ko2s load E aired downwill take our loaded down camping taco anywhere the crawler goes

I’ve had my truck for one year and 17,000 miles. I’ve pulled a 1500 pound trailer about 3000 miles and a 3000 pound boat about 500 miles. I added 2Lo for backing up and pulling the boat out of the water but there’s nothing about the gears or clutch line or a tune I can think of that I’d like to change. Does that make me crazy?
