Reverse placement and using first gear is what I am trying to get used to. My old dodge I never used first gear unless I was pulling 10k or more behind it. 2700 miles and counting still trying to get the muscle memory to kick in.

You can do this mod to the shifter pretty easily to get rid of the weird looking factory shifter.

V-dubs have had the push-for-reverse thing forever-Its practically an anti-theft device for those who've never driven one. I remember my Mom cursing and crunching the shifter in my Dad's '72 Beetle for at least 10 minutes trying to find reverse before she gave up and asked someone else who had a Beetle how to do it. I actually wish the new Tacos had a lockout. Several of us have accidentally hit reverse trying to put it in first at a stoplight.

Yes it does... I too noticed that the park brake lever fits into the trigger guard on a 1911. Did the same thing just didn't take a pic.

I wonder why the parking brake lever got moved? I think it's in the way. Oh well, those that drift their Tacos are probably cool with this change.

I love the new parking brake location. Took me 1 day to get used to. It's super convenient when starting on a steep incline or hilly traffic jams.

This. I thought I would hate it coming from 3 Toyota all with the thandle style. But I actually love it. Super easy to use the ebrake when starting off on Super steep off road hills. Now that damn reverse I can not get used to...

Old Toyota's, Power Wagon, and a Tacoma
Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    Just pulled my inspection cover.

I have come to the theory that something is wrong haha.

So, i pulled to investigate why it won't shift into gear. Though the clutch was not disengaged all the way as i can start it in gear, and it has a drag.

Also there has been a clatter like a bearing noise for awhile and i figured maybe the throw out bearing was failing..

Throw out bearing looks good, adjusted the clutch to have as little free play as possible to get the most push per say.. still didn't work. Then I started the truck to see what the hell was up.

Im going to try and get a video, I believe the input bearing is failing on the trans. These have no pilot bearing, now with the clutch engaged there is a wobble, and the noise. When the pedal is pushed and the clutch is disengaged, the wobble stops and the noise stops. Both lead me to believe transmission input bearing.

Has anyone had experience or does anyone have knowledge here?

Probelms started around 6k, with 5th gear not engaging and the factory clutch slipping under a load.

I took it to Toyota, they couldn't duplicate the problem. A couple visits later they kept saying the same thing. I took the senior guy for a ride and demonstrate. He agreed and they said they would take a look at it, but couldn't garuntee warranty.

I took the truck home and put the URD stage 3 in, took the stock clutch to Toyota who denied warranty flat out as its written. There were no wear issues or anything with the clutch etc.

Its been to Toyota more than once since for the 5th gear problems. Well here for the last couple thousand its been really rough, and the noise has started. I currently have my second vehicle torn apart for a quick resto and I can't afford to be without my wheels.

I am fed up with this shit, and have a bad tast in my mout with all the times its already been in. FML.

This looks like it was taken from a magazine. Nice pic. I wish I ordered QS. But MGM is starting to grow on me.
