96 manual with 200k miles on it. Last owner did a transmission flush 80k miles ago, checked it today and here’s the color. Are the horror stories about trannys blowing after a change only on automatic transmissions? Was planning on putting redline mt90 in it. Note those are not metal shavings just bubbles. A very slight pull with a magnet though I noticed on the drain

I wonder why so bubbly, maybe they used the wrong fluid?

I have MT90 in mine, no complaints, even great in the cold weather.

I would change it then change it again after about 10000 . Looks like you might have some water contamination, hard to tell. In the future maybe bump up your fluid changes.

No such thing as a flush for the manual trans. That is an auto thing because simply removing the drain plug in an auto does not drain it completely. And yes, the stories told about not flushing a high mileage trans apply to the auto, not the manual.

Redline MT90 is good stuff and wont cause any problems that aren't already present.

Great, mainly wanted to confirm that that was an automatic thing. Going to change it this afternoon to mt90 and will probably do one more in about a month. I think it’s bubbly because I checked it when it was still very cold

Well thought I had 3 quarts of mt90 but one of them is gl5 75w90 and the other two are gl4 mt90 I know these take gl4, think it’d be okay to top it off with gl5? And I’ll be doing this again in 1000 miles

You're probably fine since you're going to dump it soon. Some debate the GL4 vs GL5 issue, I'd personally stick with GL4 for the trans.
I've run MT90 in my manual Tacomas and 4Runner for years, good stuff.
