I know on the Truck King channel they said that Toyota claimed they went from 5th to 1st...And maybe they did but I find it a bit hard to belive because I am quote gentle with my manual but anything over like 6km I find it doesn't want to go in. Usually around 4km and below is when I will go to first

But these guys were trying to demo something on YouTube. The guy driving probably hadn't driven this truck fifteen miles and his muscle memory couldn't have been there at this point. Perhaps his daily driver is a 1978 Ford F-50 with a longer shift throw.

I mean, "Dad" would only have to find the 1st gear gate and push the stick enough to make the synchro spin up the input shaft. He didn't need to complete the shift to make bad stuff happen to the clutch. If he had completed the shift and let the clutch out in that situation, everyone in the truck would have been shoved forward, the rear wheels would probably have drug, and very shortly thereafter the engine would have exploded lol

    Mine too...RT024 :(

Couple things...I wonder if Toyota will extend the factory warranty beyond standard period for 6MTs prior to RT028

Also, could changing our manual transmission fluid early and often help at all?

I mean if the fault in part is there, I guess I want it to rear its ugly head earlier than later so it can be rectified but at the same time, if there is something we can do in preventative action, sign me up.
I second @Jeff Lange for President.

It's the small upper housing that is causing this, so unfortunately, no.

Hate for this to be my first post but I've been seriously looking at buying a 2024 6MT Tacoma TRD OR and now I'm getting spooked because of this issue. The Truck I'm looking at has a VIN that begins with 3TYLE5JN, if I'm reading the TSB correctly that means that it WAS part of the production change and therefore the issue should be fixed?

I'm excited to join the TACO club but want to make sure I don't buy something that is going to grenade lol.

Thanks and hopefully will be joining the club soon!

    Just getting started.
Get the truck. Toyota warranty does a great job, and if it's part of the group of trucks post-fix then you will be fine. In fact, that transmission is from the Hilux, is well tested, and an improvement over the model in the 3rd gen. There is a lot to like about these 4th gen models, and if you have the means to get one pull the trigger and wheel the heck out of it.

yup, this is an infrequent but normal quirk of manual transmissions based on my experience too with several as a daily driver. my 3g 6mt does this too every once in a while and shifting it into other gears (usually 2nd does the trick) with the clutch in seems to reset the alignment and opens 1st back up for entry.

What others said. If you can afford it, and willing to spend the money, BUY IT, with extended warranty, extended service plan!

Thanks guys! I'll have the dealer confirm if its post fix or not. The dealer is 2 hour away and I probably can't get up there till next weekend. I also need to get a fair trade on my 16 WRX if I were to pull the trigger but want to make sure I have all the info I need. Hopefully I'll be joining the club soon! If for some reason this one gets snagged, have any of you ordered one? If so, how long did it take? When I ordered my WRX it only took 2 months and it was built in Japan, hopefully not any longer than that.

If you “dilly dally” and don’t pay deposit now, it probraly would be sold by next weekend.
I don’t know about ordering 4th Gen Tacoma, if dealer can bring it in from another dealership. I wanted manual 4th Gen Tacoma, last year, but was not in my Toyota dealer’s system. But they had brand new manual 3rd Gen TRD OR in stock, so I bought it!:D

Yeah I know there is a risk, I’ll talk to them tomorrow morning and see if maybe they could hold it with a refundable deposit or something like that. My issue is the trade, I don’t want to commit to buying it, drive up there and then they lowball me. My current car is a one owner, perfect condition, always garaged and never modified. I don’t want to give it away but also don’t want to front the cash and then sell it later.

Did you get quotes from Carvana, Carmax, etc. for your WRX?
