Recently I purchased my first Tacoma in a manual transmission. It is a 2021 TRD Off-road. So far it’s been great but I have been trying to figure out if it has automatic rev-matching. The pop up AI answer says it does but I’m not sure if I’m looking in the wrong spot because I can’t find confirmation anywhere else if it does? And if it does is there a method of turning it off and on? Thank you for any help!

Perfect, I’d rather there not be to begin with especially if it wasn’t able to be disabled. I never had it on any other vehicles.

The 3rd gen Tacoma doesn’t have automatic rev-matching.

The AI must have gotten that info from the 4th gen Tacoma, which does have automatic rev-matching

It does not, but it certainly has a health does of Rev Hang. If you happen to find that, just shift through it. The revs will drop way to slow to wait on it.

I can get to happen if I'm using a decent amount of throttle and shift at about 3k.

4th gen taco has iMT? I guess that's not hugely surprising. I've been daily driving stick cars my entire life. Got into my friend's 2021 manual corolla, he turned on iMT, and I immediately stalled it. Not a fan

Yes, it does. Although I haven’t tried it yet, let alone even driving a 4th gen Tacoma before

Luckily with the rev hang I’m coming from a manual FJ cruiser which seems to have a good bit too so it’s not all new. Although I can definitely tell some differences in how I have to drive it with the different gearing and going from a 4L to 3.5L

I find that the rev hang is almost a perfect rev match as I'm working my way up the gears

It has been lessened, but not eliminated.

Sometimes to rarely for me, which is why I recommend to just shift through it. There is no torque behind it, so as soon as the clutch hits the friction zone, the revs fall in smoothly.

Totally agree. I have the same thing happen at higher RPM shifts.

    Congratulations!
    - No. Thankfully there is no rev match on the Gen 3s.

I saw a video on the gen 4. When they went to show the rev match, the truck broke.

I repeat - Thankfully there is no rev match on the Gen 3s. OR a button e-brake!

The real manual ends with the Gen 3...

That's what happens when you jam it into 1st. They are idiots and don't deserve a truck to make a video on from toyota. Driver error 100%

I have never noticed or cared about rev matching, rev hang, or automatic rev matching. I do however sometimes wish I had sequential dog box with a wet clutch.

I thought it was bad enough down shifting from 5th to 3rd like they claimed they attempted.
