I have noticed the exact same behavior from my 2013 manual 6 speed tacoma with 4500 miles on it...

Is this normal or should I be worried and trying to fix it?

I've got a 06 Tacoma 4x4. 6 speed Manual transmission. Got this rating in the transmission lately . But seem to be more noisy when it's hot. It sounds like the transmission has no oil and so the gears are rattling. But it makes the noise based on the amount of strain is on it or based on the rpm. The best explanation I think I can give is like if you were driving in 4 gear at a low speed then just excelerated and the gear start rattling like the gear was too high and could not excelerate at such a fast pace
