    I love this.
My manual transmission shakes, rattles, clunks, hell, sometimes it does everything but shift. (The accumulator delete makes a huge improvement)
The only thing noisier than the transmission is the slip joint in the drive shaft. (I need to grease that up again).
My friend comments on how the gear noise sounds like I wish I had a race car. (Redline MT helps, but I also like racecar noises).
Compared to my old 1988 ford ranger, this shift lever feels like a broom handle stuck in a bucket of gravel. (Not going to compare it to the manual cars I've had. That just isn't fair.)

Does any of this worry me, not anymore.
Could it be better, dear god yes.
Would I trade this for any other new truck on the market... nope.
    Save the manuals.

    What?! :)

I had a 2007 Mazda b4000 MT (Ford ranger FX4) and that transmission felt like shifting gears in a tractor. I really miss that little guy though, wish i could've kept him. :sadviolin:

My taco is absolute joy to row. Effortless and smooth shifts, unless i screw up of course. Six+ years later, i still get excited getting behind the wheel.

    @Junkhead
My Ranger was a good deal older than that.
It was this truck, but with a standard cab. 1988 Ranger STX.jpg
It had a 5sp made by Mitsubishi and shifted pretty smooth and quick.
The little 130hp 2.9 six ran out of steam after 3rd, but I once gave an old 3 series beemer a run for its money light to light.
My Tacoma gets bitchy when you try to hustle it. It won't let me have 3rd unless I slip it in just right. It really doesn't like to be shifted quickly.

To be fair though, this is my commuter car, and most manuals feel like a box of rocks compared to it, so I have to love my truck for what it is.

Nice Ranger! Yes, i remember they had Mitsu trannies. But yeah that 2.9L...

Hm. No issues shifting quickly if needed in my truck. Stock tranny fluid or Redline MT-90. Redline did improve shifting a bit but it wasn't anything dramatic at all.

Man, mazda miata has like the smoothest MT in the world. Cant compare it to a trucks transmission :)

    ^ It's a ford dealer brochure cover pic.. :D

I had two 90's F-150 that came with Mazda 5 speeds.
Put upwards of 350K on both with only clutch work.

Taking photos back in the late 80s and early 90s was a very different experience from what it is today.
I did manage to find an old pick of my truck. As I noted above, it was pretty much the same truck but with a standard cab.
I removed the lights from the rear bar because they would just blind you through the rear window when you used them.
    1988 Ranger STX.jpg

The transmission in this truck had an internal slave cylinder that leaked brake fluid all over the friction plate at around 180K and was an expensive fix for a cheap part.
Other than that, it was pretty decent. Definitely shifted well. I kept the truck till 255K before enough peripheral issues finally pushed me to give it to my cousin. I needed something more reliable as a daily driver.
I have to admit though, even at 255K it still wasn't burning any oil.

I wish my Explorer had been a manual. Oh well. It was fun when I had it. Now I enjoy the shaky manual transmission Tacoma. Still love driving it even after 7 plus years.
