You manual tacoma guys are all sissy's, now a 454 under the hood, that would be good, along with a three on the tree, that’s for me! :)

But now, Ill just stick to auto.

Learned to drive on a three on the tree Ford PU . Spent a lot of time on my back replacing pressure plates in a 57 Chevy 2 door no post with a 327 with a 4 barrell Holly and Hurst 4 speed shifter.

Took me several weeks to get over no longer having keyless and push button  Worth the sacrifice.

The first time I drove the MT, I knew it was worth the sacrifice of some “nice to haves” for something I really wanted and enjoyed much more.

To be honest I'd rather have less nice to haves. I hate the integrated key, hate the security chip. I know it makes me sound like a luddite but I much prefer my jeep - you get a small key that's cut the right way and it just works. Or even my Explorer's separate key and fob, even though it had the chip. Ah well, that's the tradeoff for buying a vehicle nowadays. :)

    Mostly stuff I built.
My only complaint with my 6MT is that the transfer case is electric shift. There should be 2 shifters in the floor IMHO. Wife drives a 2016 TRD Pro T4R and the auto transmission makes the thing feel like a dog compared to my 2016 Tacoma but the transfer case is manual shift. Makes no sense to me. No way in hell I’d give up a manual to go auto.

The main reason I bought my 17 DC OR was for the MT. However, I made sure to drive both before buying just to be sure the MT was worth the wait (couldn't find one in my area). If you like "driving" then the MT is the only way to go! The auto was over active and made the truck almost annoying to drive. The MT lets you keep the engine in a power range that is fun to drive....I wouldn't change it for the world! I love driving this truck! I had to order it because I couldn't find a manual transmission OR with P&T so it took a couple of months to come in but it was well worth the wait!
If you like the connected feel of a MT then do not think twice about going the extra mile to get a stick. It just works sooooo well in these trucks!! It is totally worth it! Enjoy!

I'll chime in just to try being pro-Auto, even though I believe MT is the way to go for Tacos.

If you live in an urban area and get stuck in traffic DD'ing your truck, it's nice to have the Auto. You're not going anywhere fast, the Atkinson cycle gets used to its full potential cruising on the freeway at commuting speed (35-40mph). My freeway commute in and out of a city was actually one of those times I enjoyed driving the Auto tranny Tacoma.

Dat boy funny. I love your twisted mind.

Remember those funky seats they made for the Subaru BRAT? The ones with those sweet "safety?" handles..

I figured first gear in this thing would be decent in traffic, but I guess true stop and go means clutching a lot no matter how well a gear crawls.

Well, that's the problem..they would be cool about it. They're really better kids than I deserve honestly. It was more thinking about them having to sit back there.

My complaint is the engine software makes rev matching downshifts a chore.

Same here. I spend three plus hours a day commuting and half of that is bumper to bumper traffic. Been driving a manual since 89 I'll never tire of it. The manual is part driving experience IMO.

This has been my experience. It's the people in front of you controlling you're movement and speed, and most are not driving manuals and are not worried about clutching.

:rofl:obviously a bad idea. But in the dumb old days we did it all the time. A parent would drive their truck around to collect all the kids to transport them back and forth in the bed to football practice. We thought nothing of it.
