Had an auto, traded for manual. For me was needed, got tired of the auto trans, so did the wife honestly. She understood when I lost a bit of money on the trade.

My Fast and Furious days were over a long time ago. I was a MT guy until I bought my AT 2nd gen Tacoma and never looked back. Just love the freedom of having that free hand for smoke or drink coffee. Hated driving in traffic with a MT also.
When it was time to buy my 3rd gen, again I bought an AT. I didn't see any advantages having a MT over AT except for the price. I love the freedom an AT provides. I don't get bored driving it, I don't need to be Intune or soul connected with my vehicle, I just need to get from point A to point B. Hell, I even tried using the S shifter just to try it, and that lasted about a minute.
The power on my 3rd gen OR feels the same as my 2nd gen. I haven't experience some of the issues that some people have experience with their lack of power. However I knew what I was buying. And I knew it wasn't a V8 truck, so I wasn't expecting that type of power in 3.5 V6 engine.

I think in a few years manual transmissions will be a thing of the past. Some of the major car manufacturers are not even selling their high end cars in MT

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, if it is a sports car I buy Manual but for a truck not so much. I used to have a 1991 Honda CRX in manual transmission that it was so much fun to drive. I miss that car.

“I’ll take things adults have been saying for generations for $1200 Alex.”

While I change my own oil, have changed at least a dozen flats and don’t get Snapchat either, the reality is priorities shift with each generation. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I’m sure some of my ancestors would be ashamed that I don’t know how to shoe a horse but it just isn’t relevant for the majority of people these days.

I live in a mountainous region with very little traffic, a manual transmission is very satisfying. Owned one automatic ever, a 2nd gen V6 Tacoma. Annoyed me everytime I drove it, just bad logic/programming IMO, I've driven plenty of other autos that are just fine.

My 2006 was a 6 speed manual and it was fun, but by 90k it needed a clutch, 3rd gear synchros were on their way out and that whole pilot bearing issue. I dug the low gearing on back roads but it was running around 2500rpm at 65mph IIRC. Low speed manuevers requiring finesse was a juggling act with feathering the throttle, slipping the clutch and working the parking brake to keep from rolling backwards. Lots of the programming on the 3rd gens suck but they have good foundations, and programming can be changed. For my money, this time, I went auto when I ordered my 16. My only complaint is that the torque converter usually locks up at a very inconvenient time.

Drove manual for last two years in a Miata. I'd do it again for a fun sports car, but don't care for a manual for a truck.

The manual Tacoma has the same towing capacity. Also the manual doesn't need the addition of a larger trans cooler to tow a larger load in hot weather. You don' have to monitor your trans temps in a manual (it's fairly easy to overheat an auto trans).

Also my '18 manual sport came with sunroof and leather seats which isn't available for the auto trans unless you buy a limited.

Manual. I cant see enjoying driving with an automatic, and I wouldn’t consider an automatic.

I love the gearing of the MT. Otherwise I just like to row a stick. It's just cool!

    And I'm 33.

My other car is an s2000 and my truck used to be a 13' A/T. Didn't think I wanted a manual truck either, but now I have a 17' M/T and absolutely love it. It would surprise you how enjoyable it is.

27 here and no regrets in Manual. Plan on staying in Manual and ordering custom until I can’t drive anymore

I’ve never understood that. I let the truck crawl in 1st and just time traffic right where I don’t have to depress again. I managed that in LA traffic when I was visiting.
