Recently I have spent a lot of time researching potential upgrade options for my 2001 3.4l V6 Tacoma. I know that eventually I want to supercharge the engine. Currently I have not found any sufficient information on what I can do to upgrade the transmission beside changing out the flywheel and clutch. Can anyone help me out with some info or point me in the right direction? Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

I am not sure but I think the trans you have (me too) is a variant of the Toyota R154. A company called Driftmotion has some upgrade stuff for that trans which may fit.

I would like to know as well. Most people have told me the 5 speed is pretty stout though even with substantial power upgrades.

AFAIK there aren't any "upgrades" besides installing a short throw shifter from URD or Marlin

Yeah that's what I was worried about but if it is good enough to sustain the upgrades then I won't worry about it

I think Marlin Crawler also makes some pretty bling billet shift forks for the R series transmissions.. they are pricey, but if you like it....

Check out URDs website. They have several performance clutches and upgrades for the manual trans to make it better suited for added power.

FWIW I have the TRD supercharger and URD 7th injector kit (only upgrade I've done to it) and the stock 5speed manual with a stock clutch. No issues with mine yet, though I suspect the clutch's lifespan will be shortened a bit. If you don't drive it like you stole it all the time then you'll be okay.
