I know exactly what you mean. I have a WRX, an Outback, and a Tacoma. The Tacoma with 4WD engaged will respond similarly to how the WRX will respond. Though it doesn't have the tendency to push to the outside the way the WRX does. The Tacoma seems to be somewhat rear wheel biased, unlike the manual WRX which is 50/50 split.

A 4WD drive truck is not going to handle the same way as an AWD car. Just get a Tacoma and shift into 4WD when you need it.

you're right! images like this one confused me. i've never actually been in a manual transmission fj, so my assertion was based on pictures:

I think the current 4Runner Limited Edition has Full-time 4WD.

Correct, and it's gonna be $45K out-the-door! Plus, no MT. I was hoping for a cheaper alternative. I wonder why Subaru doesnt make a large SUV with awd and MT.

What do you mean? Doesnt the Limited have a central limited slip differential?

The future off-road vehicle will have 4 electrical motors, one per wheel, independently controlled by a computer. No transmission necessary. Much less fun, too.
