This is a classic internet post! You do realize there was a time when trucks were ONLY equipped with MT? Maybe your truck has leather seats?

How are you averaging almost 22 mpg? I see you're in NM, highway speeds are fast enough I would think you'd get 17-19 like me.

Maybe. I say that because none of the four dealerships within 25 miles of my home accepted an allocation with a manual unless it was already requested by a customer. In the six months between when I put my deposit down and when they had the ability to pick an allocation which met my requirements, they called me four or five times and said they had the option of several Tacoma's with lesser options or colors I didn't want.

I say this to suggest, dealerships will most likely not pick an allocation of a 6MT Tacoma for their lot, but they are more than happy to look for one if requested by a customer.

I’d like to know how many Solar Octane 6MT pros were sold also. Considering it was the only year for a 3rd Generation Pro in Solar Octane, and manuals in themselves are rare, moving forward it should be a very rare Tacoma indeed. I love mine and will never sell or trade it.

The biggest problem with a manual trans is you must be smarter than the transmission in order to use it!

In the US, we had ACLB stick TRD Sports. In Canada, they have ACLB stick TRDORs.

No I don’t understand why both countries don’t have both, either.

You are very fortunate to have such customer-friendly Toyota dealerships near you. I literally could not find a single sales manager that was willing to go through the headache of switching an allocation with another dealership to get me a TRD OR DCSB 6MT. I only got it because I harassed a salesman so much he finally went through all the allocations within 200 miles to find a non pre-sold truck so I could speed over and put down a deposit half-way across the state.

Seems like the mid-Atlantic gets hardly anything other than TRD Pro and Sport with a standard transmission and those are few and far between.

Well, I think it is stretching things a bit to call three of the four local dealerships "customer-friendly"; two wanted a $5,000 Market Adjustment and the third wanted a $7,500 Market adjustment. The fourth dealership was very accommodating in that they sell at MSRP, but there was no swapping of dealership allocations, we just waited until one of their allocations had the option of a Tacoma which met my requirements. Said another way, my truck was earmarked for my dealership weeks before it was built.

Which is quite easy for the manual drivers out there, unfortunately it is the biggest issue automatic transmission advocates have!

God, most manual drivers I've driven with have been far, far worse than a modern automatic transmission even if they thought they were doing a great job. It's extremely difficult to beat a modern automatic. Toyota's aren't fantastic, though, so it's possible.

But way worse if you're trying to off road. In the rocks on a steep trying to pick a line and turn your wheel before the next obstacle? Hard pass.

There is one at my work. I actually don't care for the color, and I think he likes my barcelona red color better. Mines only a trd off road though, I wouldn't mind the pro

my tacoma was a unicorn to get wow only 1.4 % were manual transmission’s 2023 , that’s why it took me over 18 months to get my 23 Tacoma a/c trd sport, m/t because I allocation request February 19, 2022 and I pick mine up in late August 2023 18 months and 4 days

I'd like a '24 turbo 4 with a 6 MT, king cab bare bones (not access cab anymore the backdoors get dropped I think). Seems like it would be the quickest tacoma yet.

I think the 24 Manual is Double Cab only. SR, Sport, and Off Road.

I'd speculate the upcoming Pro hybrid would be the quickest Tacoma.

I'm slightly tempted to replace the 22 Pro 6MT with a 24 OR 6MT just because it's available.

I agree, gobs of torque. Future battery replacement is my main concern with hybrids. It will most will likely die when warranty is up and maybe its 3-4 grand now but how about in 7-10 years from now.

I just saw that on toyota website, I'm surprised they aren't offering a manual in the xtracab but I'm glad they are at least keeping it as an option and you can get it in the SR trim. However, down the road I could see dealers knocking down trade in values on manuals since its such a niche market.

Not going to happen, manual models virtually always command a higher resale price than automatics.
