anyone know if there is a difference between the Manual and Auto 2nd Gen drive shafts?

i know Access cab and DCSB are the same, but does it make a difference whether it comes off a manual or auto?

need to replace my bearing and shaft so i'm looking for replacement full assemblies...

    thanks

Are you referring to the portion between the transfer case & the diff on a 4WD truck?

I can't say for sure - but I'm guessing the transfer case is mounted in generally the same spot on both trucks....and probably the same length drive shaft (with carrier bearing inbetween).

    this whole assembly...

AC=DCSB, but is manual=auto as well? that's my dilemma

i'm thinking they wouldn't be that different...but before dropping $$ on a used shaft, i'm hoping to find a definite answer...or better than a guess answer haha...

the biggest issue if there is a difference is the front portion of the shaft is a fixed length that ends with the carrier bearing with needs to match with the factory holes...

Now measure yours and see if same. I measured off the flat plate that mounts on both ends.

what side of the flange did you measure from? the drive shaft side? or on the outside of the flanges/plates?

Hooked it on the outsides. You can kinda see in one pic where I hooked. Was the easiest way to hook.

    gotcha....

i just measured by pressing the end up against the flanges/plates and got:

    2006 AC TRD Off-road Manual

23 1/2" and 45 1/8" to the center of the hole at the bottom of the carrier bearing

dk how thick those flanges are...i can remeasure in a minute (appear to be about 3/16" or 1/4" thick)

looks like my carrier bearing bolt is close to the middle of the bolt hole which is 1" elongated

also noted there there are two mounting locations for the carrier bearing, 2.5" apart...mine is on the furthest back.

kind of looking like the auto has a shorter front section than the manual

Looks pretty close to what mine was and it looks like mine is mounted in the back hole to. You can see that in the pic. I zoomed in where I hooked the tape and I hooked the same on the front. To the prefect round plate. I hook on the outside where I could use one hand and take the pic. By you measurements it looks like there the same. If you where inches off I'd say no but it looks like the same ImageUploadedByTapatalk1357247318.228461.jpg

had a buddy check the part numbers on my '06 AC manual to a buddy's '07 DCSB auto and they were different...he said the 2010 tacoma (year of the donor) has like 12 different shafts, so it's looking like there are slight differences..

reg cab, AC/DCSB, DCLB..then also a pre-runner...and also different shafts for the 2wd trucks too...and looks maybe like auto and manual have differences too

not as easy i was hoping haha

    (800) 765-7100

This number is for a Toyota junk yard in Florida. They do ship and have always had what I needed. And good prices
