Just dealing with this one. I have a 2009 DCSB and the difference is the length of the front drive shaft. The spare that I am trying to swap in was a spare for a MT race truck. Their is about an inch of difference in the front drive shaft. The MT driveshaft is about 1" longer. Good thing? I can cut out an inch instead of a new tube. :)

Is there compatibility between engine sizes? In other words I know AC and DCSB with same transmission are compatible, but would that also hold true for 4cylinder and 6cylinder trucks with the same body and transmission?

I doubt it, I'm sure the drive shafts are different lengths. And the autos are different engine to engine and the manuals are different engine to engine

Bumping Avery important thread because I just found out the hard way that the from portion is indeed longer on the manual 2007 4x4 OR than the shorter front portion on - 2011 Toyota 4x4 OR automatic

my back and body hurts from learning the hard way

Speaking strictly from my research on 2nd gen 4wd drive shafts
V6 6speed front drive shaft is unique to v6 6speed
V6 auto, 4cyl auto & 4cyl manual use the same front drive shaft. Which is 1" longer than 6speed

Following the same trend on the rear shafts.
Using a DCSB as an example:
The 6speed rear drive shaft will be 1" longer (distance between steady bearing and Transmission/tcase out put shaft)

A V6 auto, 4cyl auto, & 4cyl manual will all have same distance between tcase output and steady bearing.

I almost pushed my carrier bearing to make it work but I opted not do so something stupid like that and go back to the stock.

So many variations, it's best to try find the exact same donor as your chassis.
