That is stock. Just with the chrome collar removed and boot shoved down.

    I have a redlinegoods.com leather boot that I like.

About the only alternate rod is in the Core shifter kit. It is a bit left and a bit further back, but it is pricey with gaudy chrome and Hurst branding in SAE threads. You have to get an adapter for the cool knobs that get posted around here.

All the kids I know drive manuals, Toyota yaris, mazda 3s, Subarus, Gen 1 Tacos, cause thats what they can afford to buy for cars - except for the Taco. I wouldn't say its a dying art.

This part highlighted in yellow is my main aesthetic gripe, it just goes so far up the lever for no reason. The shorter boot in @philth's picture looks much better imo.

A bent handle and/or short throw shifter would also be nice, but the aesthetics just kill me.

I don't care that you don't care that I drive a manual. I drive it because I like it. It's all about freedom of choice to choose what we want. My identity is not tied to it, it connects me to my truck.

Comparing to our past MTs, which were all cars, the boot was about the same.

It is pretty easy to do what @philth did. I don't know about his experience, but not long before I swapped the boots, my stock one was starting to squeak at the folds.
