Oh misunderstood that. The diode was still holding small voltages which was still enough to power the LEDs somewhat

finally rechecked just a couple minute ago. still has the same issue. it's drawing enough power that it's noticeable. it's only on the map lights. it only shuts off completely when I put the dome light switch to off. anyone got an idea? is it the LED's itself? it can't be the wiring since I did it the same ways as this write up.

it's noticeable when you're actually inside the cab

    Lots...
I also have that problem... the thing is that the circuit of the dome lights, when they are in DOOR position, is not open... therefore there is a little current flowing, enough to bright a little the LEDs...

don't worry, that current flowing is the same if you have normal bulbs, but they need more power to turn on...

I thought I was the only one who had this problem, but I'm guessing its not a common issue since a lot has done the mod with no problem at all.

I guess I'm just being anal, when driving at night it's just noticeable that the LED's are lit up. Hope someone finds the solution to this.

    thread revive.

to this day I'm still having the problem of those damn led map lights drawing power when I did this mod. I'm surprise there's not much of an issue for those who've already done it. it's a little annoying when it's noticeable while driving at night. and it's just on the back of my mind that it's drawing power from the battery when the truck is off(I know, I know, LED 's don't draw that much power).

for some reason I tried adding 2 diode( just to experiment) if it remedies the problem. but fu** it didn't help at all.

    resistors maybe??

    help please

Lets see if we can figure this out. So insure you followed the steps here. Did try it without the diodes?
Did you swap the wires in the clip then run your new wire from the 3rd pin of that clip to the dome light? Did you tap into the center wire for power or connect it to the opposite side of the harness?

followed it just how you got it written here. even followed the original mod from TN with the diode. even removing the diode yielded the same result. even adding a second diode didn't do nothing. no idea why it's drawing power.

I don't understand your last question. if your talking about the dome part, I connected it to the farthest away from the connector.

Why don't you do just do plug in play bulbs?

168/192 LED bulbs work for the map lights. I got a Pure 1.50"(1.75" is what is recommended) LED light for the dome light. I think that what you guys are doing is probably cheaper than what I paid for the Led bulbs.

I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I have no experience to when it comes to electrical, so I can't help you. Hence why I did the plug in play bulbs. There is no fussing with wires etc. I'm sure you'll find a solution though.

Did you put LEDs in or did you leave stock? It should work with the stock bulbs but I never tried. You can test your bulbs for your map lights by trying the bulbs in another spot or with a 9v battery

No. I just figured I would suggest the plug in play bulbs since that you were having issues.

What do you mean by plug in play bulbs? Do you think we are using solder in bulbs? I'm not understanding.
