You have to lift up the tab on the clip and the wires will become loose.

Will this work on a Gen 1 2004? All the trucks I see in the posts are Gen 2

    Thanks

You know when you change out a burnt out light bulb in your house? You just change it to a new bulb. Take out the burnt out bulb and change it with a new LED bulb.

Just did this mod, I found that the terminals from the factory speaker plugs are the same as the terminals for the map light plug. Fits great, I felt that is was more secure than just bending the tab.

Does anyone have an easy way too hook up additional lights to work with the dome light? I'm working on putting some 12v led's in the foot wells and the only way that I can see to set them up so they fade with the dome light is to run them in series from the head liner.

Does anybody have any ideas or proven methods?
    Thanks,

    Nick

Hey, thanks for writing this up! I did this mod this afternoon and ran into a problem. After everything was wired while I was testing it. The map lights came on fine with the doors but when the doors were shut. I could not turn the map lights on at all. Any thoughts?

I'm going to take a guess. if you're running LED's you might want to switch polarities.

Explain to me what you did so I can get a sense of what's going on.

I did everything as was instructed. But whenever the doors are shut or the dome light is in the off position I have no power to the map lights. But if I open the door or turn the dome light on manually then the map lights have power and I can turn them on and off just by clicking them

Just to be sure. On the some light side you put your new wire to the opposite side of the harness correct? That should make them run separate from the dome light

Could you explain that again? If you mean on the map lights. I soldered the wire to the tab that I bent out that was not being used by the plug after I reversed the wires

So you reversed them and soldered the new wire to the tab. The other side of the wire should go through the ceiling back to the dome light. That end needs to go in the hole on the side opposite the wire harness on the dome light.
