It should have been mine! Every time I got in the truck at night I was pissed it didn't come that way from the factory!

Bilsteins in front @ 1.75, OMD Rear leafs, HID heads and fogs, dipped front grille and lower valence, red LEDs in dome and maps, map/dome mod, Custom Bed Rack and Sliders, 32" EYourLife LED Bar, 2 x 6" Side LED Bars, 2 Cube Work Lights and 6" LED Bed/Reverse Lights.
Did this today in about 30-45 minutes, awesome lil mod.

My 2 cents to help others. If you are planning to solder the connections like I did and you want to be able to move freely while doing so. You can actually take both the map light panel and dome light panel out at once and measure whatever you need for wire length and solder them together on a table or the ground.

What I actually did was get everything prepped; wire length, tabs bent and such then after I had everything together I actually pulled my headliner down a bit so that I could fish the whole dome light panel through and then out the dome panel hole. Then I just popped everything back into place, this made it easier to make good solder joints.

    Hope this might help.

revivng old thread... I just did this mod after I installed new led's, all of the leds work but after the mod the map lights do not at all(pushing them, open door), the dome light works like normal, I reverse the mod and the map lights work again, I do not believe im doing anything wrong, any idea what could be going wrong?

First step would be going through again and making sure you reversed the wires correctly and all the other steps. Then since you have leds and they're polarized make sure they're in correctly as well. Most are make the way they can be turned any direction but try yours.

That makes since. Since i changed the polarity when switching the wires, i probably have to change the bulb too. Thanks

Just completed it on my 15 DCSB. The steps and process are easy peasy. But when you factor in sub freezing temperatures and fading daylight it makes it more interesting.

    A few things:

1). The harness on the map light that needs you to swap the wires is a PITA to release the wires. I pulled the plastic side cap and that did nothing. They must have used different harnesses on my truck. I had to gently pry the plastic catch tabs up and pull out the wires. This took the longest of anything as I didn't want to break them.

2). I used a small bullet style connector and crimped it almost flat. It connected perfect to the flipped up tab on the map light body. I shrink wrapped to insulate. I also used a zip tie to hold the wire in place against the map light body as it needs to do a 180 degree turn to go back to the dome light. The zip tie takes the pressure off of the connection.

3). I've read that to install LEDs you need to invert the polarity for them to work. How is this done? Simply rotating the bulb, at least in a standard filament bulb, does not invert the polarity.

4). As stated earlier remove your fuse before you do anything. I blew mine and had to make am unneeded trip to Autozone.

Polarity shouldn't matter unless your leds states that its polarized. But if you put it in and nothing reverse it then it should work. If not.. You either did it wrong or you have a bad led

Front map lights on with doors - great mod
I just did this mod this morning - works as advertised and it'll be great come Monday morning to have both map and dome lights come on when I get in the truck to head off to work at 5 in the morning.

I used a female quick connect and 2 zip ties to hold the wire in place. I zip tied the wire in with the map light cable assembly to keep the pressure off the connector as one of the other posters did.

Much thanks to DR007 for the great write up!

Certainly hope that Toyota put that in the 2016 ;)
