I decided to install the MESO customs ultimate map lights since they came back in stock. I have a TRD Off-Road with the premium package that come stock with LED bulbs. I just wanted to install the dual lights because I thought they were cool.

I thought it’d be easy to swap the bulbs like any other car so I did just that. I did not disconnect the battery before doing so and I read that I should have. Lesson learned.

Anyways, it blew the 7.5a dome fuse and I replaced it with a new fuse. I disconnected the battery this time, put the new bulbs in (even tried my stock LED bulbs and did not work), replaced the fuse, and reconnected the battery. It still turns on in the middle position and “on” position, but when it’s completely in the “off” position, one of the map lights is still on but very dim. I’m pretty sure I blew a trace in the overhead console and I’m not sure what to do at this point.

I’m returning the MESO lights and went with the VLED LED bulbs since I wasn’t a fan of the MESO after installing it.

I’m unsure if I should get a new overhead console or bring it in to Toyota to have them fix it since I believe my warranty covers it but I will have to double check.

Any suggestions on how to fix this or has anyone run into the same problem? Thank you!

I wouldn’t count on warranty covering this.

Third party product installation, especially around electrical system, they can easily deny. People keep receipts to prove they bought new oil and filters regularly especially to prove quality third-party products.

You can try disconnecting negative battery cable for 30 minutes, which may allow your electrical gremlin to starve to death.
