Hi, my name is Paul and I'm from Cape Cod. I was searching for anyone with a similar noise and came across Toyota world. Bare with me as I'm new and first time. I was reading some of the posts, and was hoping to get lucky. Just to say... 2009 Toyota Tacoma 2wd, V-6, automatic, Pre runner. My noise is in the dash on the drivers side. If you go left or right, you here something rolling side to side maybe 2" or so. Removed the wipers/ cowl...nothing. Removed the dash cluster and knee panels, radio, heater control and console. It is louder now without all the panels etc. in place. It sound a 1/2" nut rolling down an incline. Sounds like it has a little weight to it and edges. I really thought a quarter fell in between the cluster and was rolling back and fourth on maybe the knee panel edge/ lip. I'm pretty sure it isn't in the duct work. For one, ducts are plastic and are curved, the gremlin would have fallen or dropped down. With all parts removed, I was able to look on the trans. hump area. Thinking a socket was resting on top rolling back and forth. Nothing in the glove box ( also removed ), the noise hasn't changed other than getting louder, same rolling noise. I keep driving it as I remove more and more components. I even had a friend ride with me and agrees it is in line with the steering column area, mid-dash. I'm hoping someone says "that happened to me, it's the...." Thanks everyone in advance.
