Hey does anyone here with 1st/2nd gen pickups know possibly what I could do for the transmission crossmember. Got the G52 installed in the pickup yeterday, but the crossmember doesn't quite line up like I thought it was going to. The mount needs to get replaced too, so I really honestly don't know what to do if I should make my own or what. I don't really want to spend $250+ on an aftermarket xmember....because I don't have that money. If I can somehow figure out something for the xmember, I'll be golden for gulches. Just need to do some small things like rebuild that damn drag link, finish up the front end, and install the new exhaust.

I'd build one, or see if you can find one getting parted out off another rig. Nc4x4 may have something..

I'll have to check around lol, Im not sure why but the crossmember isn't even on both sides. It looks like it would fit if we could push the trans an inch over or so then I could drill new holes and bolt it up. But I think possibly fabbing up a new crossmember and installing a new mount will be the best route. I'm just not sure what to do or where to start with it

1st gen pickup frames are different and the trans are shorter. If the front mounting holes on the crossmember line up with up with the rear threaded holes of the frame, you can put a U bolt over the frame for the rear holes of the crossmember. I guess you haven't thought of different drive shaft lengths, either?

It looks like they should line up but it looks like either the crossmember is crooked or off centered, or the trans isnt straight or somethin. Because the crossmember is more towards one side than the other. The trans won't budge though, we tried moving it to even the xmember on the frame, but I'm pretty sure it won't line up like I was thinking.

But yes, I know about the different driveshaft lengths. This g52 came with the front driveshaft, so I just need to get the rear driveshaft shortened to fit.

I'll just have to take a look at the trans again when I get the chance, gotta tow the pickup back to my place today since I had to leave it at my buddies yesterday. But in pretty positive that the g52s xmember isn't going to line up

I was thinking about using some 1/4" steel and weld up a new crossmember or something to that effect

I'm going to guess that you can just push the trans over, there should be some play in the motor mounts. I could move mine back and forth to line up the crossmember with solid motor mounts.

Yeah we tried doing that, weren't able to get it in position or anything. I just gotta look at it all again and just see what needs to be done. I would like to fab up a new one though

Those look interesting, but I'm getting confused on how those are supposed to be mounted to the cross member

I had to ask my new boss if I'm still good to take off Thursday and Friday for Gulches. Got the go ahead but she said we have to talk about my other vacations... Oh well. Gulches is the most important right now.
